‘RHOSLC’ Cast ‘Shocked’ With Jen Shah’s Fraud Charges as Star Feels ‘Humiliated’
Jen Shah became the biggest bombshell for the second season of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. After it was made public that the Bravo star was charged for a telemarketing fraud scheme, the cast and fans have been shocked. As the cable network moves forward with the season, an insider is revealing that Shah feels humiliated by all of this drama.
Jen Shah drama could be ‘ratings gold’
Fans wondering if the Shah drama would air during RHOSLC Season 2 should not fret. There are reports that Bravo is planning on using the footage they captured the day that Shah was arrested and air it on the show.
“Production sees this as a great storyline,” an insider told Us Weekly. “One that everyone will want to see unfold.” The source also added that production says all of the legal woes Shah is facing is “ratings gold” and they intend to “use as much footage as they can that they’re legally allowed to use.”
It turns out that the cast of the show was filming the day Shah was arrested by federal authorities. The RHOSLC stars were getting ready to go on their cast trip to Colorado but Shah all of a sudden had an emergency and left the location.
“They’re filming today because the ladies are going to [Colorado] on a cast trip,” an insider told Two Judgey Girls, which was verified by Variety. “All [of a] sudden, Jen had to leave filming quickly because of an emergency with her husband. [Five] minutes later swat and the feds were there looking for her. They believe she was tipped off but obviously caught up with her just after that.”
‘RHOSLC’ shocked at Jen Shah’s arrest
Shah has maintained a low-profile since the news broke of her indictment. However, she did update her fans on Instagram Stories to thank them for their support during this legal process.
“Thank you for being loyal, believing in me, and not believing the hype,” Shah wrote in reply to her fan. “This journey has showed [sic] me who my true friends are. All my love.”
Behind-the-scenes, a source revealed that Shah is truly embarrassed by everything playing out so publicly.
“Jen is really humiliated that all of this is happening in the public eye and that it will be shown on Bravo,” a source told Us Weekly on March 31.
Shah has put up a strong front and her lawyer released a statement where they state the reality star maintains her innocence until the court proceedings.
“Jennifer Shah is a wife, mother, and lifelong resident of the Salt Lake City area. She maintains her innocence of these charges and is eager to defend herself in a court of law,” Shah’s lawyer told Page Six in a statement. “She puts her faith in the American legal system. Because of the ongoing legal proceedings, we ask that you respect her privacy, and understand she will not provide any further comments.”
The stars of RHOSLC have not overtly commented on the situation as they continue to film season 2 which is expected to air later this year on Bravo.
