‘RHOSLC’: Jen Shah Slams Co-Star Jennie Nguyen for Offensive Posts and ‘Disingenuous Apology’
Jen Shah is the latest star of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City to come out and slam co-star Jennie Nguyen. The latter was found to have shared racist and anti-BLM posts on Facebook over the course of 2020. Although Nguyen has now apologized for those statements, many fans are calling for her firing from the Bravo reality series. Shah is now calling out Nguyen for her “disingenuous apology” and reacting to the viral posts.
Jen Shah issues a statement regarding Jennie Nguyen
Nguyen is facing severe backlash over the Facebook posts that surfaced on social media that were deemed racist. Marks was the first RHOSLC to allude to the controversy calling the posts “vile” and saying she wasn’t able to make a longer statement due to the show going back into production.
Shah would be the next to take to Instagram and post a longer statement expressing her sentiments regarding the ordeal. The entrepreneur, who is awaiting trial after being indicted on fraud charges, is now breaking her silence and calling out Nguyen.
“I rarely believe what I see or hear online. I know firsthand what it feels like to be judged without evidence or an admission of guilt,” she said. “However, since my RHOSLC cast member has admitted that she made those horrible comments and posts, I must now stand up, on behalf of my husband and sons who are African American, to say that I am deeply offended by the racially insensitive posts and comments.”
Shah continued, “It was infuriating to see her like and repost comments that made a mockery of and showed complete apathy toward those killed marching to bring awareness to the deep-seeded social justice issues that plague our country. I am equally disappointed by the disingenuous apology that was issued. Needless to say, we have some real sh*t to talk about.”
Fans react to Jen Shah’s message
After Shah’s statement, her fans and followers on Instagram had a lot to say on the matter and took to her comments to weigh in.
“Love how you prefaced this. Very classy but to the point. We have BUSINESS to tend to,” a fan said.
“Not a fan of yours but I love this message! Thank you for speaking out and calling her out. S–t she posted should not be tolerated and needs to be addressed,” a follower added.
“PERIOD! I’m glad you spoke up, I hope the Diet Coke lady gets her friend together but that’s highly unlikely,” an Instagram user mentioned.
“Well said Jen! The apology wasn’t even enough. Not buying her apology at all,” another fan commented.
However, not all fans were on Shah’s side and some people said that she was only deflecting to not talk about her legal troubles.
“I have supported u but Shut up Jen you are in no position to condemn anyone … I’m not defending [Nguyen] but u need to sit down and shut up and focus on your upcoming trial,” one follower said.
“Pure deflection! What you did to many elderly people is much worse than reposting stuff on FB! People are allowed to post their feelings and not everyone agreed with the protests that turned into riots and are allowed to voice that without being condemned!” another follower noted.
Jennie Nguyen’s apology
After becoming a trending topic on Twitter, Nguyen issued an apology on Instagram regarding her newly surfaced offensive posts. The RHOSLC star alleged that at the time she “thought [she] was speaking out against violence.”
Nguyen claims that since making those posts she has “learned how offensive and hurtful my words were.”
“I continue to try to learn about perspectives different from my own. I regret those posts and am sincerely sorry for the pain they caused,” she added.
Bravo has not released a statement regarding Nguyen as of now.
