Rick Ross has been a hip-hop mainstay for nearly two decades. The Miami-bred rapper has released hit songs over the years such as “Hustlin'” and “Aston Martin Music.” As a result of his hard work, Ross has amassed a sizable personal fortune — and the fancy homes and cars that come with it.

Rick Ross is a music mogul

Rick Ross burst onto the hip-hop scene in 2006 with his debut album Port of Miami. The album contained his hit debut single “Hustlin'”, which peaked at number 54 on the Billboard Hot 100. After its release, Ross found himself in the middle of a bidding war, as Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Bad Boy Entertainment and Irv Gotti’s Murder Inc. fought to sign him, before finally signing a multi million dollar deal with Def Jam Recordings.

In the years since then, Ross continued to release music and hold his spot as Miami rap royalty alongside the likes of Trick Daddy and Trina. He founded the record label Maybach Music Group in 2009, and released several albums over the following decade.

Ross’s Maybach Music label has also launched the careers of many artists, including Meek Mill, Wale, and French Montana.

Rick Ross bought a $1 million home just to look at it

Ross’s music empire has been a lucrative venture over the years. In November 2021, he spoke with Revolt about his career, investments, and much more on the show Assets Over Liabilities.

At one point in the interview, Ross spoke about buying a house in Atlanta. While that may seem like a normal purchase for any rapper with money in the bank, Ross bought it for a completely different reason than what others think.

“Homes was something I was always fascinated about, so me and my homies started coming up to Atlanta. We used to ride by here all the time [we would pull over] and just be like God d***,” Ross said. “After I got my deal and my situation, I bought a million-dollar home maybe two minutes from here that I still own that’s right around the corner just so I can ride by it every day while I’m in Atlanta, and that’s what the play was.”

Rick Ross’ other homes and business ventures

Besides Maybach Music, Ross has other business ventures that have been a steady stream of income. He’s a franchise owner of several Checkers and Wingstop locations — a part of his documentary, Rick Ross Buys Back the Block.

Ross saves his money in other areas of his life while investing in others. He flies commercial rather than charter private jets, and famously cuts his 200-acre lawn himself.

“When I bought the Fayetteville [Georgia] estate, locals would see me walk out of a restaurant and scream, ‘You know Holyfield spent $1 million a year to cut the grass.’ So I decided that I was gonna cut my own grass. And that’s what I did,” Ross told Forbes in 2021. “I may have sat in the same spot for two hours before I got everything working, but once I got it going, I didn’t stop. I cut grass for about five hours.”

In addition to his $1 million Atlanta pad that he drives by for fun, Ross also owns a $3.5 million estate in Florida that he bought from former NBA All-Star Amar’e Stoudemire as well as his sprawling, 109-room estate in Georgia.
