Rihanna‘s favorite color is green. But the singer and entrepreneur looked ravishing in red at her Fenty Hair launch party. The Barbadian beauty celebrated with supporters at Nya Studios in LA. In addition to her edgy outfit, Rihanna wore two statement necklaces worth $270,000.

The “Umbrella” singer founded Fenty Beauty in 2017, ensuring her makeup was available in a comprehensive shade range. Rihanna’s focus on diversity and inclusivity endeared Fenty Beauty to the masses. Since then, she’s celebrated the launches of several cult-classic products and her Fenty Skin line, which was founded in 2020. Needless to say, we suspected a haircare line was coming.

Fenty Hair’s initial release features a nine-piece collection with a piña colada scent. The line includes a shampoo, conditioner, leave-in treatment, heat protectant, and edge-control products. It officially launched on June 12 on FentyHair.com, with availability at Sephora in the fall. Although the haircare line took center stage at the launch party, Rihanna’s accessories were a close second.

Rihanna took the “statement necklace” to the next level with not one but two pieces covered in diamonds and rubies. Steven Stone Jewellers estimates her 18k white gold choker by Manish Malhotra High Jewellery to be worth $200,000. Each ruby was custom-cut and then encrusted in diamonds as one of the Indian designer’s bespoke pieces.

Designed by Sabyasachi Jewellery, Rihanna’s second necklace involved three gemstones, including a rubellite, tourmaline, and brilliant-cut diamond. Estimated to be worth $70,000, the drop necklace’s rubellite is the rarest gem in its family. “Its inclusion significantly enhances the value of the necklace,” explained Zack Stone of Steven Stone Jewellers.

Rubies are the third hardest gemstone after diamonds and moissanite. Known as the jewel of nobility, rubies are believed to promote health, knowledge, love, and wealth. They’re associated with protecting the home and family and improving creativity, loyalty, honor, and compassion. Although Rihanna was born on February 20, 1988, rubies are the birthstone for July.

As Rihanna feted the release of Fenty Hair, she showed off the products’ pretty pastel packaging. The haircare line features several notable ingredients, including Barbados Gooseberry, upcycled Jackfruit extract, and Green Tea extract — all native to the Caribbean. Another element, a proprietary ingredient called Replenicore-5, mends split ends, thickens strands, and hydrates hair.
