Rihanna Wants to Have 3 Children, According to Her Father Ronald Fenty
Rihanna broke the Internet in early 2022 with her the reveal of her pregnancy. But being a mother is a full-time job, and the “Pon de Replay” singer plans on devoting herself entirely to her family.
Rihanna is pregnant with her first child
Rihanna started dating rapper A$AP Rocky in 2020. The two were spotted together at events including the Met Gala, and many wondered if Rocky would be the person she had her first child with.
In January 2022, the two were spotted walking the streets of Harlem together, where Rocky grew up. In the middle of winter, Rihanna wore a bright pink jacket, which exposed her baby bump to the whole world.
Rihanna’s father is happy about the baby news
As for Rihanna’s family, they’re just as thrilled about the news as Rihanna herself is. Her father, Ronald Fenty, spoke with Page Six in the aftermath of the announcement to express his excitement. “I’m ecstatic,” he said honestly. “I’m so happy that I jumped for joy. I’m still so excited.”
Rihanna notified him the night before she made her baby news public. “I just got the news from her last night, and she sent me some photos,” he said. “I’m just over the moon. She’s beautiful inside and out.”
According to Fenty, Rihanna has always felt called to be a mother, and he’s confident that she will do a good job.
“Rihanna always said that she wanted children; she loves kids,” he said. “She always takes care of her cousins’ kids…she’s going to be a good mom.”
As for A$AP Rocky, Fenty thinks he will be a good father. Rihanna brought him to Barbados in 2020 for the holidays, where Fenty met him for the first time. “I like him,” he said, calling him “a very cool guy.”
Ronald also says he’s looking forward to a wedding in the near future, because he wants them to make things really official.
Rihanna wants to have more children
In a 2020 interview with British Vogue, Rihanna admitted that after her relationship with Saudi billionaire Hassan Jameel ended, she turned her focus to motherhood.
When asked where she pictured herself in 10 years, she replied: “Ten years? I’ll be 42! I’ll be ancient,” she said. “I’ll have kids — three or four of ’em.”
Fenty confirmed her desire to have three children to TMZ following her pregnancy announcement.
Rihanna and her father’s relationship
While Ronald Fenty is thrilled for his daughter today, that’s not to say the two haven’t had their ups and downs. When she was a child, her father dealt with alcoholism and drug addiction and would often become violent with her mother; at times, she even had to split up fights between the two.
In 2019, Rihanna sued her father for use of the “Fenty” name, which she’s had trademarked since 2012. The suit was eventually dropped in 2021.
