The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 Episode 2 saw Queen Melromarc summoning a war council to discuss the Spirit Tortoise. After destroying its own kingdom, the creature is resting — but it will head for the next densely populated area in its path once it wakes. The generals from a number of nearby nations discuss possible solutions to the problem. However, it’s the mystery woman from the end of episode 1 who reveals the best way to kill it.

As it turns out, the woman who approached Naofumi and his party during the premiere is Ost Hourai. She’s spent years posing as the Regent of the Spirit Tortoise Kingdom, as well as the late king’s concubine. But she’s actually a familiar of the Spirit Tortoise itself, tasked with collecting souls to prevent the Waves of Calamity.

Ost Hourai claims that the Spirit Tortoise had its seal broken by someone without permission, and thus, isn’t in control of its actions. Although she wants to stop the Waves, she also believes her master must be defeated — if only because it will destroy the world. She reveals the best way to stop it is to remove its head. And although the war council comes up with a plan to fight the creature, Naofumi still needs to work out how he’ll decapitate it.

The second chapter ends with the Spirit Tortoise waking up, meaning we’ll likely meet it in The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 Episode 3. When does the next installment arrive?
