‘Riverdale’ Star KJ Apa Expecting His First Child With Model Girlfriend
Riverdale may be on a long hiatus but fan favorite KJ Apa has some news to share, and it’s not about Archie Andrews’ season 5 drama. Though the actor is fairly active in the media to promote his TV show or film projects, this time, it’s all about his personal life. Apa and his girlfriend Clara Berry are welcoming their first child together.

Aside from sharing photos on Instagram, KJ Apa tends to keep his relationship with Clara Berry private. However, the two just announced that they’re expecting a baby. It’s the first child for both. Apa posted a photo of Berry’s growing belly on Instagram without a caption, but fans received the message.
Congratulations notes poured in from Riverdale co-stars Charles Melton, Madelaine Petsch, Rob Raco, Asha Bromfield, and Vanessa Morgan. Morgan excitedly commented, “River’s soon to be bestie,” a reference to her son born in January 2021.
Who is Clara Berry?
Apa first went public with Clara Berry in February 2020, shutting down rumors of a romance with Britt Robertson. The couple attended Oscars’ night festivities in 2020, posing for photos on the red carpet.
Prior to that, the pair were posting cryptic messages in French to one another on social media, and many fans deduced the Riverdale star was dating the French model.
Berry was born and raised in France and according to Models.com, she’s been in the professional modeling game since her teenage years. She enrolled in fashion school, but her modeling career took off once she began using social media, and she signed with an agency. Brands that Berry’s worked with include Diesel, Tommy Hilfiger, and Off White.
During a 2019 interview with the site, she revealed that she doesn’t consider herself to be an influencer and she only prefers to share content that is authentic. With that in mind, Berry does not have an online persona.
“I understood with the time that you have to choose what you show, now I’m trying to protect myself a bit more, showing less of my private life. But I really think that I’m the same person online and in real life. Same craziness, maybe worse in real life,” she said.
Since she began dating Apa, his fans have been paying a little bit more attention to his love life. Pre-Apa, Berry admitted that she spent time reading through comments on social media, though it’s unclear if she still does.
“Yes, I read everything, even if now I’m trying to read it a little bit less because you can easily get hurt or influenced by what some people say. It’s funny to see that most of the time we will remember the only negative comment in the middle of a hundred positives ones,” she told Models.com.
In addition to modeling, Berry sometimes dabbles in music.
KJ Apa has been studying French
In an obscure interview with Henry Arnaud in February 2021, Apa shared that he’s been learning how to speak French. While his girlfriend taught him a few phrases, he also hired a tutor.
“It’s hard, man. It’s a very difficult language to get. There’s so many different future, past, present—so it’s difficult,” he said. Riverdale fans will have to wait and see if Apa will show off his new French skills in the future. In the meantime, they can wait for more baby updates.
