Rob Kardashian’s Ex Adrienne Bailon Made up a Fake Boyfriend to Get Him to Stop Calling Her
Fans who’ve been following the Kardashian-Jenners for years might remember the romance between Rob Kardashian and Adrienne Bailon. The pair dated for two years before ultimately calling it quits in 2009.
After their breakup, it seemed that both had moved past their short-lived relationship and went on about their lives. However, in 2013, Bailon revealed that Kardashian wouldn’t stop calling her after their split — that is until he received an e-mail from her supposed “new boyfriend.”
Why did Rob Kardashian and Adrienne Bailon break up?
Bailon was first introduced as Kardashian’s girlfriend on his family’s hit reality series, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, in 2007.
Though KUWTK didn’t focus on their relationship, their romance was showcased in some of the show’s earlier episodes.
From going camping with both their families to getting an apartment together in Los Angeles, it seemed to fans that Bailon and Kardashian had a bright future ahead of them.
Unfortunately, the flame burning between the pair eventually fizzled out, with them calling it quits in 2009. The following year, Kardashian admitted to cheating on The Cheetah Girls star, which she later revealed was a devastating blow to her self-esteem.
“I will say this, I think anyone who has been in a relationship where they’ve been cheated on or hurt, it affects you,” she said during an episode of The Real. “With that being said, being cheated on will make you question yourself. ‘Was I not pretty enough? Was I not sexy enough? Am I not thin enough? Do I need to do more crunches?’ I mean, you will drive yourself insane and sadly, sometimes the next person pays for what the last person does.”
Adrienne Bailon revealed what really went down after their split
In 2009, fans got a chance to watch Kardashian and Bailon’s breakup play out on KUWTK.
In the episode “Shape Up or Ship Out,” Kardashian tries to rekindle his relationship with Bailon after seeing her at sister Khloé Kardashian’s wedding. Not only does he seemingly stalk the singer by calling her 24/7, but the reality star even plans to visit her in New York.
However, Kardashian’s plans are soiled after he receives an e-mail from her new boyfriend that informs him that it’s over between them. As expected, Kardashian was heartbroken by this and ultimately decided to try to move on.
Four years later, Bailon shared her side of the story during an episode of The Real, where she revealed what really went down when the reality star received a letter from her supposed “new boyfriend” post-breakup.
According to the Disney Channel alum, the e-mail Kardashian received wasn’t actually from her new boyfriend. Instead, it was written by her and a friend to stop the Arthur George Socks designer from contacting her.
“I was my own fake boyfriend,” she told her The Real co-hosts. “What all ya’ll thought was that it was written by my boyfriend. It was not written by a boyfriend. That was written by me and my girl sitting on the sofa one day deciding to ourselves, ‘Well, how can we make him stop calling me?'”
Bailon concluded her story by sharing, “I got left alone. I think it worked!”
