Robert Pattinson Once Regretted Telling a Fan to Take off Her Clothes for Him
Robert Pattinson has had a lot of bizarre fan encounters, especially during his Twilight years. The young actor has gone about handling these situations in a variety of ways.
But at one point he admitted one of his strangest experiences with a fan might have been his own fault. When he once told a fan of his to take off her clothes, he didn’t expect what would happen afterward.
Robert Pattinson once felt ‘Twilight’ had a very weird fanbase
Pattinson has spoken highly of the passion his Twilight fanbase has for the franchise. But at the same time, there have been incidences where The Batman star felt they’d crossed a line. This has sometimes led to Pattinson using interesting methods to get rid of his fans. Like when he shattered a fan’s fantasy of him by taking her out to dinner.
But for Pattinson, perhaps one of the weirdest parts of his fanbase was their age range. Speaking to Interview magazine (via Independent), the Oscar-nominee pointed out that not all Twilight fans were teenagers.
“What’s really weird about Twilight fans is that they’re not really teenagers,” he said. “Most of them are older. Twilight has its own fan culture that existed from day one. And in an intense way that didn’t exist before,” he says. “Sometimes I ask myself what these masses of people do the whole day. They sit in front of their computers and comment on anything having even remotely to do with Twilight.”
Robert Pattinson once regretted telling a fan to take off her clothes
Perhaps one of Pattinson’s most interesting fan encounters is one he accidentally initiated. The Lighthouse actor was once signing autographs for fans when he found himself joking around with a fan. But when Pattinson made an outrageous request, the fan took it seriously.
“It was after a period of signing 500 signatures, and one of [the fans] just came up,” Pattinson once told Ellen (via MTV News). “You kind of get 10 seconds with each person and you never really say anything, and I kind of got bored of saying, ‘Hey, how are you doing?’ And she said, in her 10 seconds, ‘What can I do to get your attention?’ I was like, ‘Um, just take your clothes off.'”
Much to Pattinson’s surprise, however, the fan actually started stripping in the middle of the event. This led to the actor having serious regrets about the joke.
“And she stood there and frantically started taking her clothes off and got dragged out of the room by security,” he continued. “I never felt more terrible.”
Pierce Brosnan once showed Robert Pattinson how he handles fame
Pierce Brosnan and Pattinson co-starred in the 2010 film Remember Me. While working together, the two actors spent getting to know each other off set. But one of the things Pattinson learned about the James Bond actor was his interesting approach to fame.
“I went out a couple of times with Pierce. He’s totally recognizable, and he makes no effort to tone it down. Some people were glancing over at us in the restaurant, and he just went over and introduced himself. And it does work. It dissipates all the attention,” Pattinson once told Vogue in a 2010 interview.
Despite seeing how effective that method is, Pattinson didn’t try to emulate Brosnan’s approach.
“I just crawl under the table,” he quipped.
