The Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) publicly revealed in a video message on March 22 that following abdominal surgery, doctors discovered that she had cancer.

In a video message, the Princess stated: “It was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team, therefore, advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy … My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy, and I look forward to being back when I am able but for now I must focus on making a full recovery.”

Kate was applauded for revealing her diagnosis to the world. And now, a royal commentator is explaining why the Palace has “not ruled out” the idea of the princess releasing a second video with an update and the status of her health before she makes her first major public appearance.

When Kate will return to public duties

In late May, People reported that the princess was spotted out running errands with her family for the first time since going public with her diagnosis. This left many to wonder if she would be returning to royal duties soon. While the Palace has not given a specific timetable, multiple reports have suggested that Kate will be back at work in the fall.

During an appearance on GB News, To Di for Daily podcast host Kinsey Schofield discussed the princess’s return. The commentator explained that she’s been told Kate is “improving,” however, Prince William‘s wife may not be seen at any public engagements again “until autumn.”

According to Scholfield’s sources, “The Princess of Wales will probably not appear in public until the autumn and is being surrounded by her birth family as she continues a course of preventative chemotherapy. The Wales family, along with the Middletons, are expected to spend next week at their home on the Sandringham Estate.”

Schofield added that the families have been doing “everything in their power” to “spare the princess from any stress or anxiety” while she rests at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor and now the Sandringham Estate.

Why the Palace ‘hasn’t ruled out’ a video update on Kate’s health before then

There is a possibility that if Kate is not seen in public for months wild speculation about her health and whereabouts could start up again. Because of that, Scholfield claims that would be a reason for the Palace to have the princess release a second video and give an update on her health.

The podcast host said: “When The Daily Beast asked their Palace source how the Palace would deal with the inevitable resurgence of conspiracy theories, they said they would not rule out another video message updating the country on her health.”

And as Scholfield pointed out, “That proved to be a very effective way of keeping the conspiracy theorists at bay.”
