Prince Harry and Meghan Markle exited the royal family

In January, Prince Harry and Meghan dropped a huge announcement — a plan to step back from their royal duties and split their time between the UK and North America. That half-in/half-out arrangement wasn’t able to become a reality and the couple’s official exit date was March 31.

At the time, Prince Harry addressed their disappointment about not being able to split their time, but explained how they had to make this decision to escape the constant media scrutiny.

“I’ve accepted this knowing it doesn’t change who I am or how committed I am, but I hope it helps you understand what it had come to, that I would step my family back from all I have ever known to take a step forward into what I hope can be a more peaceful life,” he explained.

Prince Harry ‘has moved on very quickly’

After the Sussexes made their exit from the royal family, fans have wondered how Prince Harry has been adjusting to his non-royal life. Royal expert Ingrid Seward told Vanity Fair that Prince Harry has “moved on very quickly.”

“He’s embracing his new life and everything is an adventure right now,” Seward explained. “He has moved on very quickly, and I don’t think he misses his old life at all.”

Despite Prince Harry’s ease with moving on, Seward expressed surprise that he left the UK at all, but chalked it up to Prince Harry being “all or nothing” in everything he does.

“I’m still surprised, though, that Harry has left Britain,” she explained. “I know he has always hated the media and quite often hated being a prince, but I never thought he would leave his homeland. He’s always been such a lover of British life, polo, the countryside, the shooting, Scotland.”

“That said, with Harry it’s all or nothing, and it always has been,” Seward continued. “He doesn’t do anything by halves. He’s always done things differently. As a boy, people at the palace would say, ‘Harry’s Harry, he does his own thing,’ and he always has.”

Prince Harry and Meghan are on a journey together, another expert shared

Royal expert Omid Scobie, who co-wrote the book Finding Freedom about the couple, weighed in on Prince Harry and Meghan’s partnership and journey together.

“In Meghan, Harry has met a woman who meets him on many levels,” Scobie explained. “They share the same ideals and wishes for the world. Meghan gets criticized for a lot, but one can’t knock her authenticity when it comes to wanting change and giving back.”

“This is more than a marriage,” he continued. “It’s a couple on a philanthropic journey together, with the same goals. Harry has always said he wanted a teammate, and now he has one. Meghan brings things to the table, things Harry hasn’t been familiar with — Hollywood, for a start.”

Scobie also spoke to Prince Harry’s desire to carry on with the work his mother Princess Diana was involved with. “This is a man who said he wanted to continue his mother’s work,” Scobie noted. “We’ve long mourned Diana’s place on the humanitarian landscape, and here we have Harry, who embodies her values and is willing to dedicate his life to them. He’s at an age now where he’s taken that baton and is able to run with it in a way that he would never have been able to do within the House of Windsor. That’s very powerful and exciting.”
