After leaving royal life behind in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex have spent a portion of 2021 talking about what their lives were like as members of “the Firm.”

From the couple’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey to the Duke of Sussex’s remarks during Dax Shepard’s podcast as well as Harry’s comments on his Apple+ TV program, the hits from afar on Britain’s most famous family just keep on coming. Hearing the prince air out the royals’ dirty laundry and make damning allegations against the family is something Queen Elizabeth II likely wasn’t prepared for. This has the public calling for the monarch to wash her hands of Harry and Meghan and remove their titles. So far the queen hasn’t done that and one royal expert thinks she knows why.

Prince Harry’s attacks on the royal family

Something that stunned many fans during Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah is when the Duchess of Sussex alleged that conversations took place about what her son’s skin color would be prior to his birth. Meghan said it was relayed to her that one royal had “concerns about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”

Two months later, Harry went on the Armchair Expert podcast and discussed his upbringing. He talked about Prince Charles’ parenting skills and “genetic pain” while seemingly throwing his grandparents under the bus as well claiming his father “treated me the way he was treated.”

The prince also compared royal life to “a mix between The Truman Show” and “being in a zoo.”

Royal expert thinks this is the reason Queen Elizabeth won’t ‘slam the door on Harry’s face’

Since Harry has continued to call out the family and paint them in a terrible light, some people are wondering why the queen has not removed her grandson from the line of succession and stripped him of all his regal titles.

Journalist Angela Levin who spent time with Harry a few years back when she worked on his biography explained why she thinks Queen Elizabeth hasn’t “slammed the door in Prince Harry’s face.” She tweeted her opinion in response to a report that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge told friends before the Sussexes’ interview with Oprah that she did not think it was too late to “pull them back in.”

“My view is that Harry’s family in London are very worried about his mental health and think slamming the royal door in his face could have devastating consequences,” Levin wrote.

It’s highly unlikely that the Sussexes will lose their titles

No matter how much more the Sussexes publicly reveal about the royal family or how loud the calls to strip Meghan and Harry of their titles gets, constitutional expert Iain MacMarthanne doesn’t think it will ever come to that.

He explained: “There is in some quarters a feeding frenzy at present for the removal of all or some of Prince Harry’s titles… Within the context of present circumstances, Prince Harry was born an HRH and prince, and there is no modern precedent for someone born as such being stripped of these styles and titles. The Sussex peerage is a hereditary creation and was given [to them] as a gift by the queen [on their wedding day].”
