If the royal family thought Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex were done giving explosive interviews after their chat with Oprah Winfrey, they were mistaken. In fact, the Duke of Sussex may have just been getting started.

Harry fired more shots during Dax Shepard’s Airchair Expert podcast with remarks about his upbringing, making fans’ hopes for a royal reconciliation seem slimmer. While the royal family didn’t directly respond to those comments, some believe their actions speak volumes.

Princess Beatrice’s pregnancy announcement

The royals, like many public figures, take to social media often with announcements and to mark special occasions. On May 19, 2021, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall as well as the royal household’s official accounts posted the news that Princess Beatrice is expecting her first child.

Royal watchers quickly pointed out that the timing of that announcement was no accident as it was revealed on Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex‘s third wedding anniversary. This was seen as deliberate because as fans recall, the Sussexes informed the royal family that they were expecting their first child at Beatrice’s sister Princess Eugenie’s wedding which reportedly upset the bride’s parents and Beatrice.

Royal expert Duncan Larcombe told The Sun the timing was “not a simple oversight.”

Recent royal family posts recognize anniversaries

Harry’s family could have sent the duke and his wife private messages but the way they’ve always marked anniversaries in the past is with a post and photo.

A recent example of this was Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding anniversary on April 29. The only reason Charles and Camilla’s anniversary was not recognized on April 9, 2021, is because that was the very day Prince Philip died.

Moreover, on May 6, 2021, the royals all shared photos and wished Meghan and Harry’s son, Archie, a happy birthday. That was before Harry’s remarks about “genetic pain” and comparing his life as a royal to “a mix between The Truman Show” and “being in a zoo.”

Prince Charles was seen at an engagement after Harry’s podcast appearance made news but the Prince of Wales dodged questions about his son’s comments.

“Prince Charles was asked by a BBC reporter today about his relationship with Prince Harry following his son’s latest broadside,” the Daily Mail’s royal editor Rebecca English tweeted. “He didn’t answer and got on with the job in hand — a visit to BCB International, which makes protective, medical and defense equipment, in Cardiff.”

Royal commentator Katie Nicholl gave her take to Entertainment Tonight saying: “I think Harry knows that [the royals] are not going to respond to this. They really have been rendered voiceless and, to a degree, quite powerless, but I think there is always, of course, two sides to every story.”
