The British royal family is known for a few things: their philanthropic work, their lengthy history in shaping British culture, and of course, their money. The royal family is worth a total of $88 billion, including all of their assets, and among that value is plenty of expensive jewelry.

Queen Elizabeth II inherited a number of high-end pieces of jewelry when she became queen, but her mother, The Queen Mother, had an extremely lavish collection of pieces herself. One of the Queen Mother’s priciest tiaras is now in the shape of a brooch valued at more than $150,000 — so where is it now?

Princess Anne inherited the Queen Mother’s most expensive brooch

Princess Anne is the late Queen Elizabeth II’s only daughter. She’s the sister of King Charles, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward, so it’s no surprise that she inherited some extremely valuable pieces of jewelry from both the late queen and the Queen Mother. Of course, other royals, including Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, have been gifted valuable pieces of jewelry from within the family, but Anne holds one brooch that’s worth a whopping $154,000.

On Anne’s wedding day in 1973, she received a special tiara from her grandmother (the Queen Mother), which she wore during her ceremony. According to Express, it was named the Aquamarine Pineflower tiara, and it was designed by Cartier (the royals are known to have a lot of Cartier jewelry). Anne loved the piece, but rather than keeping it as a tiara, she opted to have the pricey stones removed and placed into a brooch that she could wear on other occasions. The tiara consisted of aquamarine and diamond stones, which is what Anne transferred into the new piece of jewelry. Anne keeps the brooch locked away for most occasions, but she was spotted wearing it in 2014 and again in 2019.

Princess Anne has a tremendous collection of royal jewelry

The women of the royal family all have high-value pieces of jewelry to their names. Even Kate and Meghan have been spotted wearing pricey jewels that belonged to Queen Elizabeth II or their late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. But Anne has a stunning collection of jewels, likely because she was the Queen Mother’s only granddaughter and Queen Elizabeth’s only daughter.

“Her collection not only showcases her exquisite taste, but also reflects the deep significance she places on her royal responsibilities,” jeweler Maxwell stone once said of Anne’s collection, according to Express. Although the exact worth of the royal family’s extensive jewelry collection isn’t known, it’s been reportedly valued anywhere from $1.2 billion to $5.8 billion.
