Prince Harry and Meghan Duchess of Sussex‘s son Archie turned 2 on May 6, 2021. The duke and his wife marked the occasion of their little one’s birthday with a message on their Archwell Foundation website that read: “We have been deeply touched over the past two years to feel the warmth and support for our family in honor of Archie’s birthday. Many of you donate to charities on his behalf, and mark the occasion by giving back or doing an act of service–all through the goodness of your hearts. You raise funds for those who need it most, and continue to do so organically and selflessly. We remain incredibly grateful.”

Members of the royal family also sent birthday messages to Archie from across the pond, but a photo Prince Charles shared had some fans wondering if he was intentionally snubbing his daughter-in-law.

Royals wish Archie a happy birthday

Queen Elizabeth II’s social media accounts featured a photo of Meghan and Harry holding her great-grandson a few days after he was born with the caption: “Wishing Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a very happy 2nd birthday today.”

And despite the rift between Harry and Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge also wished Archie a happy birthday via Twitter and Instagram with a family photo from his christening.

The pic Prince Charles shared though raised a few eyebrows.

Fans point out that Prince Charles’ photo doesn’t include Meghan

The Prince of Wales posted a photo as well to mark his grandson’s special day. However, the Express noted that some royal fans questioned if Charles was snubbing Meghan because the image he shared was just of him, Harry, and Archie.

One fan tweeted: “Lovely picture, but where is Meghan on the picture?” A second person commented: “Very sad state of affairs when the supposed future king cuts the mother of his grandchild out of the photo with which he chooses to share. Yes, they haven’t seen Archie for over 12mnths, but to not include Meghan… it’ll only add fuel to the fire of the tabloids.”

Others replied explaining that the Duchess of Sussex wasn’t cropped out of the picture but simply wasn’t in it which then led to questions about why that particular image was chosen. Well, many fans had a theory about that too.

One wrote: “Prince Charles hasn’t seen Archie in person since Nov 2019. This is most likely one of the few photos of the 2 of them together that Prince Charles has.”

Another opined: Perhaps this is a moment with 3 generations. A favorite picture… maybe instead of people being offended just appreciate a lovely picture. If Meghan was in the picture people would [have] found something else to be offended about.”

For anyone still questioning if the photo on Charles’ account was any kind of snub, a Twitter user pointed to the one shared on the prince’s account for Princess Charlotte’s birthday days earlier.

“[Charles] wished Princess Charlotte happy birthday last week and the photo was just her, no parents or grandparents,” the fan noted. “Did you criticize that too?”

The picture of Charlotte was the same one shared on the royal family’s account. William and Kate did not post anything on their daughter’s birthday because it fell during the social media blackout they joined to protest online abuse and discrimination put together by English football.
