Royal Photographer Says Meghan Markle Was ‘Great’ Until She ‘Split’ Prince William and Prince Harry
Even before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to step down as working royals and move to the States, there were rumblings of a rift between Harry and Prince William.
The Duke of Sussex confirmed that in the documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, admitting that he and his sibling were on different paths. Royal watchers everywhere then began to question what happened that caused a rift between them.
To the outside world, the brothers always appeared so close but then something changed. According to someone who has worked with the royal family longer than the princes have been alive, that something was Meghan.
Photographer insists Meghan was ‘great’ but then everything changed
Arthur Edwards is a photographer who has taken pictures of the royal family for over four decades. He began working for The Sun in 1977 and has photographed the royals on hundreds of international tours, at seven weddings, and at five funerals including the late Queen Elizabeth II‘s. He was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire for his “outstanding service to newspapers.”
He recently spoke about how Prince Harry and Prince William were “inseparable” but claimed that changed once Meghan came into their lives.
During an appearance on the YouTube podcast Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered, Edwards explained: “The split with these brothers, was the worst part because they were so close. I photographed them both since they were [babies] coming out in their mother‘s arms, and I’ve seen them grow up together. I’ve seen them learn to ski together, learn to waterski together, learn to fly together when they both joined the Royal Air Force.
“They were inseparable. They would always joke about each other … They were fun. And then Meghan came along, and suddenly, everything changed.”
He continued: “Everything changed, I think, for the worst for the family because although [in] the first year of Meghan it was great. She really embraced the job … She really did warm to the public and the public loved her — suddenly, after about 18 months, everything changed … Meghan is not talking to her family and now Prince Harry is not talking to his. There’s a common denominator there.”
Edwards believes ‘the parable of the Prodigal Son’
Edwards added that the feud between the Sussexes and the rest of the family has been particularly upsetting for King Charles.
“I’ve seen the pain it’s caused the king,” he shared. “He doesn’t see the grandchildren. I feel sorry for Harry’s children because they should be mixing with their cousins here. They should be playing up at Sandringham or Balmoral. They should feel part of it and they’re not .”
When asked if he thinks Harry will ever be forgiven after all that’s happened these last few years, Edwards said: “I always believe the parable of the Prodigal Son. Everything’s possible. We all have to have forgiveness in our hearts. Of course it could happen.”
