A new set of queens is competing for the title of ‘American’s Next Drag Superstar’

These queens might’ve lost their respective seasons, but they’re back to prove they have what it takes to become America’s Next Drag Superstar. On June 5, RuPaul debuted the fifth season of the spinoff series RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars 5.

The queens competing for their place in the “Drag Race Hall of Fame” are Ongina, Miz Cracker, Shea Couleé, Mayhem Miller, India Ferrah, Mariah Paris Balenciaga, Blair St. Clair, Jujubee, Alexis Mateo, and Derrick Barry. However, there’s something new standing between these queens and the crown.

“For All-Stars 5, we’ve come up with a new twist that is so twisted it’s guaranteed to twist your twisted minds,” RuPaul said in a statement, according to The Wrap.

‘All-Stars 5’ presents a new twist for contestants

For the first time ever, traditional All-Stars rules have been suspended. Now, the winner of the week will lip-sync against a “secret lip-sync assassin” for the power to eliminate one of the bottom queens.

If the lip-sync assassin wins, the queen who goes home is voted on by the remaining contestants. Some fans compared this twist to the unexpected rules of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars 2

In that season, instead of competing in teams, the “Top Two” girls had to lip-sync against each other for the power to eliminate someone from the bottom. There was drama, there were alliances, and now, fans are excited for another season filled with tea.
