This is how Ryan Reynolds became famous
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Reynolds began his acting career in the early ’90s on Hillside, a Canadian teen drama. He began to gain traction in Hollywood for his guest appearances on The X-Files and Sabrina, The Teenage Witch.
However, Reynolds’ big break did not come until 1998 when he snagged a lead role on the series, in Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place and then in 2002 when he earned a starring role in the comedy, National Lampoon’s Van Wilder
From then own Reynolds was able to garner roles in everything from the critically panned, Green Lantern to the recent Netflix film 6 Underground. However, the 44-year-old is known for a lot more than his work on the big and small screens. He also had a hilarious sense of humor.
Ryan Reynolds loves to joke on social media
In addition to constantly trolling his wife, actor Blake Lively, and even calling out his kids after being forced to put together endless amounts of toys for Christmas, it’s clear that the Canadian actor has an incredible personality. In fact, it’s why he was able to step into the role of Deadpool so seamlessly.
Reynolds also knows how to strike the perfect tone when he’s trying to get super important messages across, like the PSA he did for John Horgan, premier of British Columbia amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“But here’s the thing. I hope that young people in BC don’t kill my mom, frankly, or (environmental scientist) David Suzuki or each other,” Reynolds shared on Twitter. “Let’s not kill anyone. I think that’s reasonable.”
Ryan Reynolds’ middle name is Rodney
In addition to poking fun at others, The Proposal actor isn’t afraid to poke fun at himself, including his rather intriguing middle name. In a recent Twitter plug for one of his business ventures, mobile phone company Mint Mobile, Reynolds hilariously shouted out his middle name and his disdain for it.
He tweeted, “Paying $90 a month for wireless is like my middle name, Rodney. It exists and you COULD use it… but it sucks so why would you? Instead, pay $90 for SIX MONTHS at http://mintmobile.com”
Fans were absolutely delighted by The Hitman’s Bodyguard actor’s self-deprecating humor as well as the revelation of his middle name. In fact, one fan even suggests he try out for WWE and go by the name Triple-R which seems like a worthwhile suggestion.
