With only a few more months left to go in Droughtlander, fans are looking for any information they can get about their favorite actors on the show. Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser, recently shared a sweet message about his co-star and on-screen wife, Caitriona Balfe who plays Claire on Outlander.
Sam Heughan wishes Caitriona Balfe a happy birthday
Heughan took to Instagram to wish his on-screen wife a very happy birthday. He joked that the image he chose was the only one that was really appropriate. He clearly has nothing but good things to say about Balfe.
“Happy Birthday @caitrionabalfe !!! (…This is the only non inappropriate picture I could find! 😂) Wishing this remarkable, generous, talented, gracious, elegant, big hearted, goof, the biggest birthday wishes!! This is only the start of your success..Love ya Screen Wife!🍰 🍾 x,” Heughan captioned the image.
The cast of ‘Outlander’ shar behind-the-scenes images
Heughan recently posted a behind-the-scenes image of his family on the porch in what looks like their home in North Carolina. He’s accompanied by Balfe as Claire and their on-screen daughter, Brianna, played by Sophie Skelton. The trio appears to be laughing and having a good time in-between takes as Heughan playfully points at Skelton.
All three of the close-knit on-screen family shared a sweet picture of them embracing. Heughan appears to be enthralled with something on his phone, while Balfe and Skelton bring it in for an epic hug. Skelton looks directly at the camera. “Frasers who freeze together got all the feels together 🖤 #Frasersfridge #Fraserfurnace #Outlander @caitrionabalfe @samheughan,” Skelton wrote.
When does ‘Outlander’ season 5 premiere?
Season 5 of Outlander will premiere on February 16, 2020. Starz has just released the official trailer for the upcoming season, and fans are definitely here for it. It sounds like members of the Fraser clan are struggling with whether they should stay or return to their time as the American Revolutionary War draws closer.
“When this war you’ve told me about eventually comes, it would be safer in your time,” Jamie tells his wife Claire. It sounds like she may have to make a choice in the future.
Brianna is also struggling with what she will do. “You wanna go back don’t you?” Brianna asks Roger (Richard Rankin). “Our family is here.”
Claire appears to feel guilty that her family is in North Carolina during such a tumultuous time in history. “If I am to keep us safe here, time, space, history, be damned,” Claire says at one point in the trailer. “It’s safer in the future. It’s time,” she says as the trailer ends. Fans are understandably concerned with what this may mean for the Fraser clan.
Claire and Jamie’s bond has deepened with time
Balfe is clearly excited about what’s to come in the upcoming season. She recently spoke about her character’s relationship with Jamie and how their bond has only deepened over time.
“It’s wonderful to be able to play a relationship that keeps growing and growing, and deepening and deepening. And I think that that’s something that you really see evidence of this season,” Balfe said while at the New York Comic-Con panel for Outlander. “It’s just that time and just that the love that they have for each other, it just keeps expanding. And you know, you don’t think that that’s possible from Season 1, but it really does. I mean, they’re there for each other no matter what. They support each other through really tough, tough times. It’s just their knowledge of each other and how intimately they know what’s going on inside each other. I think it’s really beautiful.”
The new season of Outlander will be back in just a few short months. Fans can’t wait to see how things play out for the Fraser family.
