Samuel L. Jackson has a lot of experience with making movies. While the actor does consider making movies “easy”, there are still many things about the process that irritates him. Based on how much cursing Jackson does in his movies, it’s probably not a pretty sight to see the Pulp Fiction actor get angry.

Jackson has one of the most impressive resumes when it comes to movies. He has appeared in over 140 with many of his most iconic roles being in movies including Pulp Fiction, The Hateful Eight, Snakes on a Plane, Django Unchained, Goodfellas, Coach Carter, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kong: Skull Island, Die Hard With a Vengeance, and Unbreakable.

Jackson has also starred in some of the biggest franchises ever including Star Wars, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Jurassic Park. While he has never won an Academy Award for his acting, Jackson did recently win an honorary Oscar for lifetime achievement in film.

Samuel L. Jackson says movies are ‘easy’, but can get ‘irritated’ by long shooting sessions

Despite the lengthy number of movies he’s worked on, there are still some things Jackson hasn’t gotten used to. In an appearance on Showtime’s Desus and Mero, Jackson says that he loves making movies but he often gets annoyed by the amount of time it takes to shoot short segments of a film.

“Movies are easy. The hard part about doing a movie is getting up, and the amount of time that you’re there all day,” Jackson explained. “The average movie day is somewhere between 12 and 16 hours. So, it’s work…Out of the 12 hour day, I’d say you work an hour and a half, straight up. Because you go in and do 10, 15, 20 seconds. And I get irritated with the process sometimes because it’s like, we’re going to take four hours to do 15 seconds of movie. What’s the problem? But movies are easy man.”

For an experienced veteran, it makes sense that Jackson would want a shooting day to go as smoothly and quickly as possible. However, he continues to act in many projects so his frustration is not enough to deter him from doing what he loves.

In the same interview, Jackson expressed that he has had some conflicts with his directors. The Star Wars actor will sometimes imagine a scene in his head and think that what he pictures is better than what the director tells him to do.

“I bump heads with directors from time to time,” Jackson shared. “Because I have a thing in my head, I see a movie before I do it. I don’t argue with some of them, because some of them I know they know what they’re doing. But sometimes people get in over their heads.”

In his career, Jackson has worked with some of the most prestigious directors out there including Quentin Tarantino, Steven Spielberg, and Martin Scorsese so it is interesting to think about who he may be talking about. Currently, you can watch Jackson in the Apple TV+ series, The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, which is streaming now.
