Sandra Bullock Had a ‘Big Time’ Crush on Keanu Reeves
Movies take months, if not years, to make. The lengthy production period sometimes leads to actors developing feelings for one another. It is not uncommon to hear about actors who met their significant others on set and while most of these unions happen, others are never meant to be, as is the case of Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. Bullock recently revealed she had a ‘big time’ crush on Reeves.

Bullock and Reeves starred in the 1994 film Speed playing Jack Tavern and Annie Porter. The plot of the movie revolves around a young police officer, Jack, who thwarts the attempts of a bomber to hold a full elevator for ransom. After fleeing the scene, the bomber rigs a passenger bus with a bomb and informs Jack about it, sending him on a wild goose chase.
After finding the bus, Jack works with a passenger, Annie, to get the rest of the occupants in the vehicle to safety, but she is captured by the bomber, who fits her with an explosive vest. Jack manages to deactivate the bomb and gets him and Annie to safety.
Bullock and Reeves shared over-the-top chemistry in the movie. Interestingly, they both had a crush on one another in real life. Bullock recently sat down with her The Lost City costar Channing Tatum to answer ‘The Web’s Most Searched Questions’ for Wired.
One of the questions involved Bullock’s crush on her Speed co-star Reeves. Bullock answered, “Yes. Big time. That’s common knowledge.” She told Tatum that she and Reeves only recently admitted it to one another.
This isn’t the first time Bullock has shared her feelings for Reeves. In a 2018 interview with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, Bullock revealed she fell hard for Reeves while they were filming the action thriller. While reminiscing about her time making the film, Bullock shared how “sweet Keanu Reeves was” and how handsome he was that it became impossible for her to take things seriously.
The two never dated
It turns out that Bullock’s feelings for Reeves weren’t one-sided as The Matrix actor admitted to sharing the same feelings. A few months after Bullock appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Reeves popped by to chat with the longtime host. As is DeGeneres’ nature, she didn’t waste time bringing up Bullock’s comments about her affection for Reeves.
When asked what he thought about Bullock’s statements, he said, “She obviously didn’t know I had a crush on her either.” Although it’s shocking to learn that they both had crushes on each other at once, the million-dollar question becomes, why didn’t they ever date?
When the host asked why Bullock and Reeves never acted on their feelings for one another, the Neo portrayer simply said, “We were working.” He, however, said it was “nice to go to work,” on the movie, knowing that he would get to see Bullock. He also called Bullock a “wonderful person. A wonderful actress.”

With the success of Speed, it came as no surprise that the powers that be would want to make a second one. Reeves and Bullock were set to reprise their roles, but the former refused, saying the script was lacking and he wasn’t mentally prepared to make another action film after Chain Reaction.
Speed 2: Cruise Control wrote Reeves’ character out and went with Jason Patric in a different role. The movie flopped, grossing nearly $200 million less than its predecessor. Reeves and Bullock reunited on screen almost a decade later in the fantasy romance drama The Lake House.
