Sandra Bullock Says Channing Tatum Smells ‘Earthy’ and ‘Christmas-y’
Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum co-star in the new movie The Lost City. As usual, Tatum has all the charisma and sex appeal you could ask for in a leading man. But according to Bullock, his charms extend even beyond what viewers see on the screen.
“What does Channing Tatum smell like?”
Tatum and Bullock recently appeared on the popular Wired YouTube series where stars are asked to answer the questions about them that are most often searched online.
Bullock was given the question “What does Channing Tatum smell like?” Her response was enthusiastic and detailed.
“Ooh, it’s like frankincense and myrrh today,” she joked. “Very earthy, spicy, kind of Christmas-y kind of smell.”
Tatum just responded with a laugh, so he didn’t clarify exactly why he smells so good. But according to an interview his ex-wife Jenna Dewan once gave Glamour, one cologne can be ruled out. The interviewer asked Dewan what her favorite scent was on Tatum.
“I like a cheesy cologne,” she said. “He won’t wear it, but I like it. Like Curve. It’s so high school.”
From model to actor
According to Biography, before he tried his hand at acting, he worked as a fashion model. Tatum has been acting since 2004, when he appeared on CSI: Miami. After a few years of small parts, he landed lead roles in the movies Step Up and She’s the Man.
Since then, he’s worked steadily as an actor. One of his most popular roles was as a stripper in the 2012 movie Magic Mike. He returned to the role in the 2015 sequel Magic Mike XXL. He will reprise the role again this year in the final movie in the franchise, Magic Mike’s Last Dance. Recently, he made his debut as a director in the movie Dog, in which he also starred.
Tatum recently added “children’s author” to his resume. Last year, he wrote a book called The One and Only Sparkella. The book is about his daughter Everly, who they call Evie. In the book, she’s feeling self-conscious about how she dresses as she prepares for her first day of school. The book became a New York Times bestseller, and will soon be followed by a sequel, The One and Only Sparkella Makes a Plan.
A fun new movie
The New York Times reports that Tatum is currently starring in another movie, The Lost City, with Bullock and Daniel Radcliffe. Bullock plays Loretta, a romance novelist who is kidnapped. Her kidnapper is an unusual billionaire (played by Radcliffe), who is convinced Loretta knows the way to a treasure that’s hidden deep in the jungle.
Tatum plays Alan, the model for the cover of Loretta’s novels. He decides to rescue her, leading them into adventures such as him being naked and covered in leeches.
Movie theaters are just starting to recover from the pandemic, and industry insiders are watching closely to see if viewers will return in large numbers to see a movie that isn’t about a superhero. But the stars believe that The Lost City should appear on the big screen.
“With this film specifically,” said Radcliffe, “I hope people are in a place where they feel like they can go to the theater and enjoy it, because this is a grab-your-friends-and-go-cheer movie that lends itself to a big communal experience.”
If fans aren’t able to enjoy Tatum’s enticing scent, perhaps they’ll show up to enjoy watching leeches get plucked off his naked body.
