Sarah Jessica Parker Met Husband Matthew Broderick Right After Her Tragic Split With Robert Downey Jr.
Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick have been in a relationship for 30 years. They met back in 1991 and have been inseparable ever since. When did Sarah Jessica Parker and Robert Downey Jr. date?
Parker and Downey were together for seven years. Their relationship began in 1984, after meeting on the set of the film First Born. And although they were only in their teens and early 20s while they were together, they spent many of those years living under the same roof.
According to both actors, they had planned on getting married (via People Magazine.)
But sadly, the Iron Man star struggled with addiction issues to drugs and alcohol that became too overwhelming for Parker.
“Eventually, I guess I just summoned the courage to leave him,” Parker revealed in the WTF podcast with Marc Maron. “The biggest hardest choices about those kinds of relationships are feeling brave enough to leave, even if you think they’re going to die. Because you stay, not because you’re in love anymore- You love this person, and you’re afraid they’re going to die if you aren’t there to shore up their base every single solitary day… So I just didn’t want him to die.”

Following Parker’s tragic breakup with Downey, she met the Ferris Bueller’s Day off Star.
And instead of Broderick being a rebound for the Sex and the City actor, he ended up becoming the love of her life.
And although it has been 30 years since they first met, Broderick very clearly recalls that particular moment in time.
“I do remember first meeting her,” Broderick said, according to Oprah Daily. “I still remember very clearly seeing her walk down the street toward the movie theater… It’s very unique because I wouldn’t remember most people the first time I saw them come down the street. [But] I remember it as clear as day.”
And as for Parker? According to the actor, she’s still very much in love with her husband to this day.
“I love Matthew Broderick. Call me crazy, but I love him,” she told Harper’s Bazaar (via Insider.) “We can only be in the marriage we are. We’re very devoted to our family and our lives. I love our life. I love that he’s the father of my children, and it’s because of him that there’s this whole other world that I love.”
How many kids does the couple share?
Together, Broderick and Parker share three beautiful children. Their names are Tabitha, Marion, and James. And according to the actor, the best moment of her life was when she had her children.
“If I could revisit one moment in my life, it would be the birth of my children, definitely,” Parker revealed to The Edit Magazine back in 2016. “It’s just you and, in my case, my husband and this child, and it’s absolute euphoria.”
