Sex and the City is (finally) coming back. On Jan. 10, news broke that a revival series is in the works at HBO Max. But the thing is, Kim Cattrall won’t be returning.

Cattrall has repeatedly stated she would not return for any SATC projects amid her feud with certain cast members, specifically Sarah Jessica Parker. But regardless of their history, Parker says she doesn’t have any issue with her former co-star.

The ‘Sex and the City’ revival is on the way

After weeks of rumors, Variety confirmed that a revival called And Just Like That… is underway. Starring Parker (Carrie Bradshaw), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes), and Kristin Davis (Charlotte York), it will focus on the three best friends as they “navigate love and friendship in their 50s.”

There’s no official release date just yet, but the 10-episode series will begin filming in New York in the spring of 2021, according to the outlet.

The ‘Sex and the City’ revival comes after drama between Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker

Rumors of discord between Cattrall and Parker began in 2004 when the original show was in its sixth and final season, according to ELLE. Both of them initially downplayed the rumors, even joining each other for two movies in 2008 and 2010, respectively.

But as the speculation grew, Cattrall admitted to issues with Parker. She famously wrote in a 2018 Instagram post that Parker was “cruel” to her and “not [her] friend,” though Parker has said she remembers their experiences differently.

Cattrall also refused to resume her role as Samantha Jones in any future SATC projects, citing her desire to focus on things that aligned more with her personal interests. “I don’t want to be in a situation for even an hour where I’m not enjoying myself,” she added in a 2019 interview with The Guardian.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s comments on Kim Cattrall’s absence from the revival are nice

After posting a teaser trailer of the revival to her Instagram, Parker began taking fan questions. When a fan remarked that they would “miss” Cattrall’s character Samantha, Parker replied (via Entertainment Tonight): “We will too. We loved her so. X”

She went on to address their feud after one of her followers accused Parker of disliking Cattrall. “I don’t dislike her. I’ve never said that. Never would,” she explained. “Samantha isn’t part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do. X”

Cattrall has not publicly responded to Parker’s comments. But when asked about their feud in a Los Angeles Times interview published in September 2020, she barely said anything.

“Everything is on Google, so I encourage you to Google it, about anything that I’ve said,” she said. “I just feel that that was then, and when I look at what’s going on around me, I just don’t have any regrets.”
