‘Saturday Night Live’: Ariana Grande’s 3 Best Sketches
Ariana Grande will grace Saturday Night Live‘s stage yet again on Oct. 12, 2024. The singer, songwriter, and actor will host, with musical guest Stevie Nicks during the series’ 50th season. During her SNL appearances, Grande has participated in some unforgettable sketches. Here are 3 of her best.
‘This is Not a Feminist Song’ starring Ariana Grande and ‘Saturday Night Live’ women
Saturday Night Live debuted “This is Not a Feminist Song,” a short starring Ariana Grande and the ladies of SNL including Vanessa Bayer, Aidy Bryant, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong, and Sasheer Zamata.
The group finds writing a feminist anthem more challenging than they initially thought, and they don’t want to “do it wrong.” They realized it was too hard to write an anthem that would describe a woman’s journey.
Soon, the group realizes they can’t create the anthem they initially desired. “We didn’t write that anthem, we went home,” the actors sang. However, the irony of the short was that while their song wasn’t the best, the images and regular people interspersed throughout the video actually conveyed the message the tune could not.
‘Celebrity Family Feud’ with Ariana Grande
Celebrity Family Feud pitted teams of great actors vs. great directors in an unforgettable sketch where Ariana Grande showed off her impersonation skills. She played Jennifer Lawrence, sounding more like Lawrence than the actor herself.
As Lawrence, Grande maintained that she was just a “regular person,” mimicking the actor’s early interviews where she reportedly claimed as such. Then, Grande began the game by answering the question, “Name a bad habit that you just can’t quit.”
As Lawrence, she responded, “I’m just, like, a snack-aholic. I love Pringles. I can eat a whole can. Like, every day is my cheat day, you know what I mean?” Grande and Lawrence later co-starred in the comedy Don’t Look Up.
‘Tidal’: Ariana Grande as Chloe the Intern
Ariana Grande’s funniest Saturday Night Live hands-down was when she played Chloe, the intern of the music streaming program Tidal (via YouTube). When the streaming service goes down, she reveals she can mimic voices.
“But I’m shy,” she reveals after being asked by a Tidal bigwig, played by Kenan Thompson, that people “need their Britney Spears. Grande then cuts into Spears’ “Baby One More Time.” She followed that song with a spot-on Shakira impersonation of “Whenever, Wherever.”
When Chloe was told that the Ariana Grande channel was down, she revealed she “wasn’t a big fan” of the singer, getting big laughs from the audience. Following, Grande showed off her impersonation skills with Rihanna’s “Work,” Celine Dion’s “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” and Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.”
Ariana Grande hosts Saturday Night Live on Oct. 12. The live show begins at 11:35 p.m. with musical guest Stevie Nicks.
