‘Saturday Night Live’ won’t be new tonight, Sept. 21

Unfortunately, Saturday Night Live won’t be new tonight. The new season isn’t set to kick off until Sept. 28.

Instead, NBC will reair a season 49 episode tonight during SNL’s normal timeslot. Tune in at 11:30 p.m. ET to see host Ryan Gosling and musical guest Chris Stapleton.

The episode earned Gosling an Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series Emmy nomination, partly thanks to the wildly popular “Beavis and Butt-head” sketch. Gosling lost out on the trophy to The Bear’s Jon Bernthal.

‘Saturday Night Live’ Season 50 kicks off with 4 consecutive episodes

Saturday Night Live has made sure it’s worth the wait for its historic 50th season. Four straight brand-new episodes are scheduled, beginning Sept. 28. Another episode is scheduled for Nov. 2, just in time for the presidential election.

Hacks star Jean Smart will host the season 50 premiere. She’ll make her SNL debut and be joined by musical guest Jelly Roll.

Then, comedian Nate Bargatze will host on Oct. 5. It’s the second time in less than a year for Bargatze, who will be supported by Coldplay as the music act.

Ariana Grande returns to SNL on Oct. 12 to promote Wicked. Stevie Nicks will be the musical guest. This is her first time back on SNL in more than 40 years.

The Oct. 19 episode will be led by Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star Michael Keaton. Pop star Billie Eilish will also be there as the musical guest.

John Mullaney will host Saturday Night Live’s election episode on Nov. 2. Chappell Roan will perform, adding to the night’s excitement.

3 new cast members will make their SNL debut

Three new comedians join the Saturday Night Live cast for season 50. They replace departing cast members Molly Kearney, Punkie Johnson, and Chloe Troast.

Ashley Padilla comes to SNL from The Groundlings improv group. She’s also appeared on Curb Your Enthusiasm and Night Court.

Emil Wakim is a stand-up comedian who has opened for Nikki Glaser, Roy Wood, Jr., and Neal Brennan. In 2022, he debuted on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Jane Wickline made a name for herself in comedy thanks to TikTok. She’s amassed 45 million followers on the platform, where she performed on the sketch show Stapleview.

Saturday Night Live Season 50 premieres Sept. 28 on NBC.
