Elizabeth Berkley calls working with ‘Saved by the Bell’ co-stars a ‘gift’

The only two regular Saved by the Bell actors that returned for the reboot were Berkley and Mario Lopez as the Jessie and A.C. Slater, respectively. Thiessen appeared in a handful of episodes in the revival while Voorhies had a minor scene. However, the latter two are both seemingly returning and Berkley is more than excited to have had the opportunity to reunite with her old friends.

“These ladies… what a gift to get to work together again,” Berkley posted on Instagram. “We have a special history that is beyond… we worked hard together as kids to make a show that people still love, we did high school together and our parents all looked out for us too as we were minors when we started. It was a safe place to grow up and now we get to take those sweet roots and fly together as women.”

Berkley continued, “Don’t you love those connections that have history where you just get right to it with no explaining? It’s so comforting and we can’t wait to share some magic with you when season 2 comes out.”

Lark Voorhies was not always part of the ‘Saved by the Bell’ reboot

Fans are excited to see Voorhies in the Saved by the Bell reboot. The actor had previously expressed that her “puzzling disorder” might have contributed to them not asking to be part of events around the sitcom. When the star made an appearance on The Doctor Oz Show, she opened up about her feelings.

“I have to admit I did feel a bit slighted and hurt when I was not invited to be part of the Saved by the Bell reunion, as well as other cast members’ events,” she read from her diary.  “Yet, of course, I also realized that having this puzzling disorder may have played a major part in that factual decision. With that in mind, I am truly thankful for having had the chance to work on a show that has been so successful.”

Voorhies has been open about living with her diagnosis of bipolar disorder and has raised awareness to help other people.
