Saweetie Addresses Cardi B Feud Rumors
For months, there have been unconfirmed rumors of a feud between Saweetie and Cardi B. While neither of them has directly done anything to indicate any drama, many social media users feel there are signs of discord between the celebrities. Amid ongoing speculation, Saweetie took a moment to address the rumors before this gets any more out of hand.
Do Saweetie and Cardi B get along?
From the moment she broke out with 2017’s “Icy Grl,” Saweetie has always come off as a positive and outgoing person who could get along with anyone. When it comes to Cardi B specifically, Saweetie had nothing but warm words for her in a 2018 interview with REVOLT TV, explaining she loved her personality and was impressed by her music career.
“I love her energy. She’s popping, she’s cute,” she gushed.
Cardi B was also a fan, so much so that she even invited Saweetie to join her on a tour stop in 2019. In a sweet Instagram tribute after the show, Saweetie thanked the “WAP” hitmaker for allowing her to join her. “#BardiGang & #IcyGang was in the house tonight ❄️❄️,” she wrote in part, referencing the names of their fanbases.
How the feud rumors started
While Saweetie and Cardi B have been friendly in the past, some fans believe they have since fallen out.
As HotNewHipHop notes, many have pointed to the apparent lack of personal meetups between the rappers in recent years, which is hard for them to make sense of — especially because both are dating members of the Migos.
Another sign of discord, they say, lies in Cardi B’s song “Up,” which dropped in February 2021. In it, she uses the phrase “I know that’s right” — something Saweetie is known for saying — leading to accusations that she slighted her.
Responding to the claims, Cardi B said on Instagram Live that her use of the phrase was pure happenstance and that if she had really thought about it, she would have put Saweetie’s voice there instead. “But you know, I was just rushing,” she said.
Saweetie’s comments on her rumored feud with Cardi B
Appearing on The Breakfast Club in March, Saweetie also refuted rumors of a feud.
“I think the media just likes to take things out of context,” she added. “I’m loving how women artists are starting to realize that sometimes it’s the media that creates something that’s not there. I think it just shows mature and it shows growth amongst me and my peers to not be affected by what the media says.”
Moving forward, she even hopes to get in the studio with Cardi B. “Our teams have definitely been talking. I think we’re just kinda waiting for that right record,” Saweetie added.
Fingers crossed that it happens.
