Five months after their (very public) breakup, fans are wondering if Saweetie and Quavo are back together. The speculation started following a report stating the celebrities had been “quietly” spending time together. Emails to representatives for both Saweetie and Quavo were not immediately returned, but here’s what we know.
Why Saweetie and Quavo broke up
Saweetie and Quavo were together for nearly three years before breaking up in 2021. The “ICY GRL” rapper, 28, confirmed their split on Twitter in March after much speculation, citing alleged infidelity on Quavo’s end.
“I emotionally checked out a long time ago and have walked away with a deep sense of peace and freedom. Excited for this new chapter of elevation,” she added in a follow-up tweet.
Quavo, 30, responded to her post on his account, criticizing her for publicizing details of their relationship.
“I know you want to make this into a show so I’ll play my part just this one time,” he wrote in a string of tweets (via Vulture). “I don’t normally put my business out there, especially my personal life. I feel the need to address this so there are no false narratives. I had love for you and disappointed you did all that. You are not the woman I thought you were. I wish you nothing but the best.”
“Take care,” Saweetie wrote back.
But now, it’s being reported the two are allegedly hanging out again
Saweetie and Quavo’s breakup seemed permanent, not just because of the Twitter fight but also because of all the other drama that followed, like Quavo allegedly taking back the Bentley he bought for Saweetie. However, a new report has some wondering if things might be back on for them.
Speaking to HollywoodLife, a source claimed the two have allegedly started to hang out again after reconnecting sometime over the past few months.
“Saweetie and Quavo are currently both in New York and have quietly been spending time together on the DL,” a source told the outlet. “Quavo has missed Saweetie since they broke up and he’s been asking to see her. Apparently she gave in because they linked up in NY and have hung out since they’re both there at the same time.”
But does that mean the two are back together?
“Nothing is official as of the moment, but don’t be surprised if you hear they’ve reconciled,” the insider added.
Saweetie and Quavo’s relationship first started in 2018
The “Tip Toes” collaborators first got together in 2018 after Quavo slid in her Instagram messages.
“I seen her on my Explore page. I was like, ‘D*mn! Who is this?’” he previously told GQ magazine. “So I did my research and I DM her. I was like, ‘How she going to call herself icy and she don’t talk to me?’ So I slid in her DM. I told her, ‘You an icy girl, you need a glacier boy.’”
Eventually, the two went out on their first date, and the rest is history.
