Scary Movie 3 is a highly-quotable movie that still gets regularly played on television. The humor isn’t particularly smart, but it’s somewhat of a cult film that developed a loyal audience. Scary Movie 3 is particularly effective thanks to comedic performances from Anna Faris, Simon Rex, and Regina Hall. Rex recently talked about how Scary Movie 3 has his most quotable line and fans won’t stop saying it to him in public.
‘Scary Movie 3’ is part of a 5-installment franchise
The Scary Movie movies are parody flicks that have grossed almost $900 million at the global box office. Critics unsurprisingly trashed the Scary Movie franchise, although the box office sums were proof enough that audiences were willing to spend money to see them. However, 2013’s Scary Movie 5 experienced a serious dip at the box office, which put an end to the parody series.
2003’s Scary Movie 3 primarily pokes fun at The Ring, Signs, The Matrix Reloaded, and 8 Mile. However, there are also jokes referring to other popular movies from the time. Scary Movie 3 introduces Rex to the series as George Logan, who aspires to be a rapper. He returns in Scary Movie 4 and Rex makes a return in Scary Movie 5 playing himself.

Deadline interviewed Rex about Red Rocket, but Scary Movie 3 also came into the conversation. The outlet asked him what his most quotable role is. He answered George Logan in Scary Movie 3 for obvious reasons. Audiences still comment on and quote the movie to this day.
“People come up to me always, to this day, and quote one line from Scary Movie 3,” Rex said. “They say, ‘You just hate me because I’m Black.’ And that’s a line that I have to Charlie Sheen because I’m trying to be Eminem, I’m trying to be a rapper. And it’s just a really dumb, funny line, and even to this day, that’s what sticks out 20 years later, almost. People come up and they’re like, ‘That movie was my childhood.’ And that’s always the line.”
Scary Movie 3 is one of the most regularly played installments in the series on cable. It continues to get solid viewership, so it’s clear that audiences are still enjoying the parody movie, even though the humor is poking fun at older movies.
Simon Rex getting serious with ‘Red Rocket’
Rex surprised the world when he showed up at the Cannes Film Festival along with filmmaker Sean Baker to premiere his newest movie Red Rocket. He plays a washed-up porn star and his performance earned him a standing ovation after the film premiered. Several independent awards organizations have even nominated Rex for his outstanding performance, including the Gotham Awards.
Red Rocket hits theaters Dec. 10. It will likely follow other A24 titles and hit digital services for purchase after around three weeks post-theatrical release.
