Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ celebrity parties have been in the spotlight for the wrong reasons lately. But even back before his recent scandals came to light, Diddy was rumored to butt heads with a few stars at these star-studded events. One such celebrity was the queen of pop herself Madonna.

Diddy and Madonna both contributed to the music industry in their own ways. Madonna’s success can’t be understated. At the height of her powers, she was arguably the most famous and powerful singer in the world. In addition to her commercial success, she’s earned significant critical praise as well, having won the Grammy seven times after 28 nominations.

Meanwhile, Diddy was known for his impressive business acumen and his eye for talent. Bad Boy records helped find Brooklyn rap artist Biggie Smalls, which catapulted both Smalls and the record company to worldwide stardom. Usher, Danity Kane, Cassie, and others are also some of the many artists that he helped mentor in the music industry.

According to a source back in 2010, Diddy and Madonna’s egos might’ve clashed during a party because of his historical legacy. What might’ve started out as playful banter between the two quickly grew into a heated argument. At least, if the insider is to be believed.

“Diddy and Madonna were yelling at each other about who has a bigger impact on the music world,” the source once claimed according to Today.AZ.

In a bizarre turn of events, Madonna allegedly tried settling her argument with a dance battle front of their celebrity guests.

“Madonna and her dancers all had a dance-off in the middle of the party,” the insider said.

Whether these events happened or not, who left the bigger impact in the music industry is entirely subjective. After all, both Madonna and Diddy inspired generations of artists for years to come. At one point, however, Diddy did have the edge over the “Material Girl” singer when it came to net worth. Madonna has been worth $850 million for a while now according to Celebrity Net Worth, whereas Diddy accumulated $1 billion at his peak. But thanks to his scandals, his net worth continues to drop significantly.

Madonna inspired the Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs documentary ‘Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop’

Madonna also had a hand in encouraging Diddy’s artistic endeavors outside of music. The disgraced CEO released the documentary Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop in 2017, which documented his rise in the entertainment industry. Model Naomi Campbell once hosted a special screening of this documentary in London, where she sung the movie’s praises.

“He’s got an incredible archive and what you’re going to see tonight is only a touch of the archives that my brother has. I learn so much from him in the sense that he says ‘film everything you do,’” Campbell said according to WWD.

Additionally, Diddy also confided during the screening that he hoped the movie would show fans a different side to him.

“I just wanted the cameras to be dropped into my life, and I wanted to tell the truth. That’s what this movie is about,” Diddy said.

Without Madonna, however, the documentary might not have existed. Years ago, Madonna came out with a documentary of her own titled Truth or Dare in 1991. Diddy was so moved by the piece that he developed Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop because of it.

“I wanted to do a movie like Madonna’s, something raw and honest, but it turned into something much bigger than that,” he said. “I wanted the audience to get an inside look into what happened when the Bad Boy family reunited, the ups the downs, the joy, the real 20th anniversary. Not only the making of the concerts, but the story of how we started Bad Boy.”
