Sean “Diddy” Combs resides in the Metropolitan Detention Center — a jail known for its difficult conditions and terrible food. According to the New York Post, Combs is in the 4 North Unit of the prison. The unit contains around 20 inmates and has looser rules. The inmates reportedly can play air hockey and have access to other amenities.
“They are not in cells,” Fong, a friend and correspondent with Combs’ cellmate, Sam Bankman-Fried, told the New York Post. “You envision them in small cells, but they are actually in a unit that is set up like a dorm and designed for high-profile individuals. The president of Honduras was there.”
Gene Borrello, a former mob enforcer who spent time in the same unit as Combs, told the publication that one of the rooms in the unit gives inmates possible access to the women below.
“There are grates in one of the rooms of 4 North,” Borrello explained. “They have little holes. If you lay down, you can look through the holes and talk to the women one floor down and see them.”
Another former inmate, gang member G-Lock, talked of the women below the 4 North Unit during an X interview with Tiffany Fong. He explained how the women are not shy when communicating with the men above. However, they might be different than who Combs was used to inviting to his A-list parties.
“They’re gross,” G-Lock said. “Most of them are drug addicts.”
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ attorney says Combs could be a ‘target’ in jail
The Metropolitan Detention Center is known for its tough living conditions. Sean “Diddy” Combs’ lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, discussed the danger Combs might be in on Sept. 17, 2024.
“The food is inedible, from what I’ve been told,” Agnifilo said after Combs was denied bail, according to Us Weekly. “It’s violent. Someone like Mr. Combs might be a target for certain things. We can’t let that happen.”
Prison consultant Sam Mangel echoed this sentiment, calling sections of the jail “pure hell.”
“The MDC is probably the worst federal detention center in the country,” Mangel said.
A former inmate says Combs might not have it as bad as others due to his celebrity status. “If the guards take a liking to Diddy, he will get extra food, extra time out of his cell,” they claimed.
Blair G, another former inmate, said, “He’s rich … so they might not treat him so bad [as a] form of extortion.”
The hip-hop mogul’s legal team requested bail yet again in November 2024
Sean “Diddy” Combs was denied bail multiple times after his arrest, leaving him in jail. However, his legal team isn’t giving up. They set forth another motion for bail on Nov. 8, 2024. According to his lawyers, the prosecutor’s case is “thin,” People reports. For the new “robust” bail package, they proposed that Combs would be watched 24/7 with home security monitoring, and he wouldn’t be able to contact anyone outside of his legal team.
Combs maintains a not-guilty plea to the charges against him, which include racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Previously, his attorneys proposed a $50 million bail package. Two judges denied the package, stating they feared Combs would potentially contact the witnesses and influence them ahead of his trial.
