Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Was Willing to Downgrade His Lifestyle to Get Bail
Sean Diddy Combs has been trying to get himself bail ever since he was arrested for his alleged crimes. Despite the millions that he’s thrown at the judges, all of that money seemingly wasn’t enough to buy back some temporary freedom. However, the music mogul hadn’t lost hope when it comes to getting out of jail one way or another.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs wouldn’t be returning to his lavish lifestyle if granted freedom
Diddy has been trying to secure himself bail not too long after his arrest. TMZ reported on September 17, 2024, just a day after being put in handcuffs, that Diddy offered $50 million for his release. The deal not only saw Diddy put up his $48 million Miami mansion as collateral, but also his mother’s $2 million Miami home. Unfortunately for Diddy, that wasn’t enough for Judge Andrew Carter, who denied his requests at the time. Carter agreed with Law enforcement sentiment that Diddy was a flight risk and could potentially intimidate witnesses to manipulate the trial.
But after a new judge was reassigned the case, Diddy and his team saw an opportunity to seek bail again with the same offer. However, Judge Arun Subramanian agreed with his predecessor and denied Diddy’s requests a second time.
On November, 22, 2024, Diddy and his defense team requested bail with a new approach. This time, Diddy offered to downsize from the glamorous lifestyle he’s used to in order to gain the court’s trust. Instead of living in his Miami mansion, Diddy offered to live in a three-bedroom apartment in New York City. But according to Vulture, prosecutors challenged Diddy’s offer. They argued that Diddy’s already been attempting to tamper with the trial while in jail, already proving the CEO’s dishonesty.
“For conditions to be sufficient, there has to be some level of trust that the defendant will follow them, and the defendant here has demonstrated either he cannot or he will not follow rules,” prosecutor Christy Slavik said in court. “The defendant, simply put, cannot be trusted — he’s left no doubt that he cannot comply with conditions.”
Some of the ways Diddy has been allegedly trying to manipulate the trial was by seeking out witnesses and jurors for his upcoming trial.
“What we have here is the defendant’s concerted effort to affect the integrity of these proceedings. He is saying, ‘I want to reach for this jury, I just need one,’” Slavik continued.
Still, there was a slight sliver of hope that Diddy might’ve been able to spend the Holidays outside of prison. But unfortunately for Diddy,
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ history made it harder to sell his LA mansion
Diddy may be offering his Miami mansion up as collateral, but his LA mansion is being offered to anyone willing to purchase the property. The controversial producer listed his mansion for sale on September, 9, 2024 for $61.5 million. He reportedly purchased the mansion back in 2014, and is asking for a much higher price than the $39 million he bought it for.
Months earlier, the mansion gained international notoriety when it was raided by federal officers along with his Miami pad. Some of the items agents seized were 1000 bottles of baby oil, weapons, and drugs at the scene. Still, a source close to People alleged that the case had nothing to do with Diddy currently selling his home. The insider claimed that he “always planned to sell the home in L.A. once his daughters grew up and moved out.”
But the source’s claims didn’t help salvage its reputation in the eyes of potential buyers. Another insider told People not too long ago that Diddy’s freak-offs were scaring potential buyers away.
“The property itself is stunning, yet it’s clear that the criminal allegations has impacted buyer interest,” the source said. “There has been some overseas curiosity from high-profile international buyers, but no serious offers.”
Recently, the infamous LA mansion received an offer from real estate tycoon Bo Belmont. In a press release, Belmont confided that he planned to redeem the property’s reputation after buying it. That way, it can be judged based more on its appearance than on its history.
“I want to remove the stigma and focus on the charming elegance of this remarkable property,” Belmont said. “We intend major renovations and especially want to recapture the beautiful, bucolic setting of the outside grounds, with its picturesque trees, foliage, and walkways. This prominent estate will be a great asset to our growing portfolio of luxury properties.”
Belmont wouldn’t be buying Diddy’s mansion for $61 million, however. Instead, Belmont is offering the music mogul $30 million to take his 10-bedroom abode off of his hands.
