Sean Diddy Combs is currently facing several lawsuits that could see the rapper serve considerable jail time depending on the legitimacy of the allegations. Cassie Ventura’s historic lawsuit against Diddy is largely seen as the catalyst that kicked off the mogul’s recent legal troubles. However, sometime before Cassie, there was someone who sued Diddy for his alleged behavior.

In 2017, Cindy Rueda sued Diddy for sexual assault according to The Hollywood Reporter. Rueda claimed she started working for Combs in 2015, but immediately started facing problems when Diddy reportedly failed to pay her overtime hours. But Rueda alleged that the situation grew worse after Diddy would have her serve his and his associates food after engaging in sexual acts. This eventually led to Rueda having to deliver Diddy food while he was naked himself, where she claimed he asked her about his body.

After Rueda discussed her concerns with the workplace, she was fired on the spot. Additionally, Rueda claimed she was accused of stealing as punishment for speaking up.

“In the days following, Plaintiff was accused of theft and told that she would not be prosecuted if she returned the watch and signed a waiver of all rights and claims against Defendants,” Rueda’s attorney said.

But Diddy’s team denied there was any merit to Rueda’s lawsuit at the time.

“This is a frivolous lawsuit by a disgruntled ex-employee who was fired for a cause,” they said.

NBC Los Angeles reported that Rueda and Diddy would settle the lawsuit out of court two years later for an undisclosed amount.

If certain sources are to be believed, Rueda wasn’t the only one mistreated by the music mogul. After his arrest, more and more accusers have come forward claiming that they seek retribution for Diddy’s actions. Earlier last month, it was reported that Diddy was facing lawsuits from 120 potential victims.

“Counsel for these accusers recently convened a press conference [prior to filing] at which he claimed to represent 120 accusers making outrageous and deeply prejudicial allegations, including violent sexual assault and sexual abuse of minors,” Diddy’s legal team wrote according to documents obtained by Us Weekly.

But because of the sensitive nature of the case, and Diddy’s own celebrity, the music mogul’s counsel requested these anonymous accusers should be identified. His council argued that the secrecy surrounding some of these accusers called into question the legitimacy of the claims.

“The press conference and 1-800 number that preceded today’s barrage of filings were clear attempts to garner publicity. Mr. Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts, their legal defenses, and the integrity of the judicial process. In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone—adult or minor, man or woman,” they said.

“These swirling allegations have created a hysterical media circus that, if left unchecked, will irreparably deprive Mr. Combs of a fair trial, if they haven’t already,” they added.

The anonymity some of the accusers maintain has already begun to adversely affect some of their cases. NBC News reported that a judge ordered one of Diddy’s many accusers to come forward with their identity. The reasoning behind the judge’s decision was because they provided insufficient evidence that the anonymous accuser would be harmed if her name was revealed. The risk of public scrutiny was there, but it was a risk that needed to be taken in order to conduct a fair trial. If the accuser doesn’t release her name, her case will be thrown out.

Going forward, this might be a ruling that affects other accusers as well.
