Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been abandoned by most celebrities ever since his 2024 arrest. He now sits in jail on charges including sex trafficking and racketeering, and while his arrest shocked the world, it seems there might have been signs of his selfish personality years earlier.

In a previous interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live!, Combs reflected on being “upset” about Justin Timberlake’s 2004 Super Bowl performance with Janet Jackson — but it had nothing to do with her wardrobe malfunction.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs once reflected on being ‘upset’ about the 2004 Super Bowl

Back in 2004, a number of stars took the stage at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, there was only one incident etched in people’s memories: When Justin Timberlake accidentally ripped off part of Janet Jackson’s shirt, exposing her bare breast. Allegedly, it wasn’t supposed to happen like that, but it certainly left its mark on pop culture.

Diddy did not think highly of the situation, but it wasn’t because Jackson’s body was exploited. Rather, he was mad that his own performance was overshadowed. Speaking to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live!back in 2018, Diddy revealed that he was mad about the incident for selfish reasons.

“I want to say that I’m still upset about that Super Bowl,” Diddy told Cohen. “I put, like, six months of my life into preparations, and then nobody even knew I performed.”

He reiterated, “Y’all don’t even know I performed at the Super Bowl,” to Cohen’s crowd, to which Cohen agreed that he didn’t even realize Diddy had performed that year.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs won’t be performing at any Super Bowls any time soon

Combs has been in jail for months, and his trial is set to begin in May. Regardless of which direction it goes, it doesn’t seem like Diddy will have too many Super Bowl opportunities down the road. Many celebrities have done their best to distance themselves from the mogul, with people like Jay-Z denying having ever been friends with Diddy.

Those who attended Diddy’s white parties haven’t spoken out quite as much, but celebrities like Will Smith have even made formal announcements to the public that they were never associated with Diddy. Diddy has left the New York City jail where he resides only a handful of times for court appearances and a hospital visit.
