Sean Hannity’s Divorce Could Cost Him More Than You Think
Sean Hannity is a high-profile conservative political commentator, well known for his lengthy tenure on Fox News. Although many of Hannity’s controversial comments have caused him to land in hot water over the years, he has a passionate fan base of supporters and those who believe that he is a shining star of the Republican Party, as well as the far-right in general.
Still, Hannity is in the news for other reasons lately, when it was revealed that Hannity and his wife of several decades had decided to divorce. Ultimately, Hannity’s divorce could be a major blow to his wealth and status.
How did Sean Hannity become famous?
Hannity was born in New York City in 1961. He grew up in a large, Irish family, and worked a variety of odd jobs as a young man.
Hannity was in and out of college and was able to pay the bills through house painting and working as a building contractor. In the late eighties, Hannity began hosting a radio show. While the show was not overly successful, it did bring him some notoriety, mostly due to his controversial opinions.
Over the next decade, Hannity continued to build his presence on the radio talk show circuit, becoming one of the loudest voices on the air. In 1996, he began hosting the show Hannity & Colmes on the Fox News network. For twelve years, Hannity and Alan Colmes worked side-by-side, until 2008, when Colmes retired from the show.
Hannity simply renamed the show and soldiered on, remaining an ever-present figurehead for conservative Americans. Hannity is an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump and has defended him on many occasions.
When did Sean Hannity get married?
Although Hannity’s professional life might be continuously controversial, his personal life has mostly remained under the radar. He married Jill Rhodes in 1993 and, according to Hannity, it was Rhodes’ influence that has enabled him to become so successful.
Hannity and Rhodes have two adult children, both of whom have remained relatively private people.
In early June, after 26 years of marriage, Hannity announced that he and Rhodes legally divorced last year and that they had actually been separated for many years prior to the divorce. Although the news came as a shock to many, sources stated that the two “maintain a close relationship as parents to their children. Neither will have any further comments and ask for the sake of their children that their privacy be respected.”
It doesn’t seem as though cheating or any real scandal played a role in their divorce. Rather, Hannity’s “workaholic” status could have contributed to the fact that they grew apart.
How much will Sean Hannity’s divorce cost him?
Hannity’s announcement didn’t feature any information about financial arrangements or whether there was a prenuptial agreement. However, due to the fact that Rhodes and Hannity were married before Hannity became the celebrity commentator that he is now, it seems likely that there was never any sort of formal agreement between them.
Hannity is notoriously successful on Fox News and has a reported net worth of around $250 million, but it is very likely that he is worth even more than that. Given the fact that Hannity and Rhodes don’t have any minor children, he shouldn’t have to pay child support, but depending on Rhodes’ financial standing, he could end up paying a lot in spousal support or maintenance.
It is likely that fans won’t find out the extent of Hannity’s divorce costs until his net worth updates next year — if then. The Fox News host might have to look at additional gigs to help enhance his income in the years to come.
