Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs’ Jail Is Known for Poor Living Conditions, Rotten Food, and Power Outages
Federal agents arrested hip-hop mogul Sean “P. Diddy” Combs on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024. In March 2024, Homeland Security raided two of Combs’ properties, leading many outsiders to believe Combs might spend time behind bars. The star was hit with sex trafficking and racketeering charges, and the judge refused him bail. Here’s what to know about the alleged conditions of the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn where Combs was held.
Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs is held without bail at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn
Sean “P. Diddy” Combs didn’t get bail after receiving charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and prostitution transportation. While Combs pled not guilty to the charges, he must remain in custody. He spent the night at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024.
Unfortunately for Combs, the detention center has a reputation for less-than-desirable conditions. Ghislaine Maxwell spent time in the jail, and she complained about the “rotten food” and “constant interruptions” she experienced while trying to sleep.
“I have not had a nutritious meal in all that time,” Maxwell told DailyMail.com, according to the New York Post. “I haven’t slept without lights on – fluorescent lights that have damaged my eyes – or been allowed to sleep without constant interruptions.” She added that the conditions left her with “no stamina.”
“I don’t even have shoes which fit properly,” she continued. “They feed me rotten food. One apple had maggots in it.” Maxwell alleged that the prison staff did not allow her to exercise.
Maxwell added that the jail had a broken sewer system and a rat problem. “I used to go to the loo with an open sewer drain, and a friendly rat would regularly visit,” she continued.
The inmates at the Metropolitan Detention Center also allegedly had to endure freezing temperatures in 2019 following a heat and lighting outage caused by an electrical fire.

With Sean “P. Diddy” Combs behind bars, what does the Metropolitan Detention Center offer for food?

Combs can choose from various side dishes to beef up his meals. He can select from cole slaw, biscuits, fruit, green beans, pinto beans, rice, green peas, and corn.
Prosecutors labeled the hip-hop mogul as an ‘ongoing threat’ to the community
Sean “P. Diddy” Combs’ lawyers hoped to get bail for the hip-hop star. Unfortunately, the judge ruled that Combs posed too much of a “flight risk” for release on bond.
“As reflected by the gravity of the charges in the Indictment, the defendant is dangerous and poses an ongoing threat to the safety of the community,” the prosecutors wrote, according to In Touch Weekly. “If released, he remains a serious risk of flight, despite the conditions offered by his counsel. Most glaringly, the defendant also poses a significant risk of obstructing justice.”
The prosecutors added that Combs allegedly attempted to “bribe security staff and threatened and interfered with witnesses to his criminal conduct.” Combs also contacted witnesses and victims and fed them “false narratives of events.”
