Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs’ Jail Visitors Must Follow These Rules
Federal agents arrested hip-hop mogul Sean “P. Diddy” Combs in September 2024 on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He now resides at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after being denied bail twice. So, can Combs have visitors while preparing for the next steps in his court case? Here’s what to know.
Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs can have visitors in jail, but they have rules they must follow
Sean “P. Diddy” Combs hoped to attain bail so he could stay home while he and his legal team prepared for the next steps in his court case. Unfortunately, judges denied him bail twice, leaving him at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
According to the Metropolitan Detention Center PDF on visitations, Combs is allowed one hour per week for approved social visitors during his designated time. Combs’ designated visiting times are dependent on his register number. The hour for visitors begins once the inmate arrives in the visiting room. Combs can only have one visitor per day and a maximum of four visitors simultaneously.
There are numerous rules that visitors have to follow. Anyone visiting Combs cannot use the same restroom as he does. All personal items, like phones, pagers, newspapers, magazines, tissues, wallets, personal keys,
and watches, cannot be brought into the institution. Visitors have to store their belongings in a lobby locker.
All visitors must wear clothing deemed appropriate for the visit. This means they cannot wear provocative or offensive clothing or outerwear. They also can’t wear open-toed shoes, pants or shirts with holes, sweatpants or hoodies, military wear without identification, hats, scarves, sunglasses, or sleeveless clothing.
One embrace and one brief kiss are permitted between the visitor and Combs at the start and end of the visit. Visitors also can’t bring packages, gifts, or money to the inmate.
Once an inmate or visitor leaves the visiting room, they cannot resume that visit on that day unless authorized.
Can Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs see his kids while at the Metropolitan Detention Center?
Sean “P. Diddy” Combs has seven kids. While many of his kids are adults, he has three kids under the age of 18. D’Lila and Jessie Combs are both 17, and his youngest child, Love Sean Combs, is only 1.
So, can Combs’ youngest kids visit him in jail? According to the visitation guidelines, they can do so with the signature of a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian must accompany visitors under the age of 16.
“Young children, 4 and under, who will remain on the visitor’s lap during the entire visit, do not count towards the visitor limit of four,” the PDF notes.
The hip-hop star is ‘committed to fighting this case,’ his lawyers say
Sean “P. Diddy” Combs pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. His lawyers told People he is “strong, healthy, and focused on his defense.”
“He is committed to fighting this case and has full confidence in both his legal team and the truth,” they added.
Cameron Lindsay, a retired warden of the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, said other inmates could target Combs because of his “celebrity status.”
“His huge celebrity status and the allegations of violence against women make him a very attractive target for assault,” Lindsay said. “And in the subculture — in the world of jails and prisons — to deliver a hit on somebody like him would be considered a badge of honor.”
