Will Season 5 Be the Final Season of ‘Stranger Things’?
They fought off the Demogorgon and the Mind Flayer. Whether it be adventures with school or their relationships, these friends are always getting into mischief.
Thanks to one of the Stranger Things creators, fans learned that these characters are even coming back for the fifth season of the Netflix original series. Here’s what we know about new episodes of Stranger Things.
Season 4 won’t be the end of ‘Stranger Things’
Fans first met best friends Will (Noah Schnapp), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Mike (Finn Wolfhard) with the first season of Stranger Things. After Will disappears, the rest of the gang stumbles upon a “superhero” named Eleven, or “El” for short, played by Millie Bobby Brown.
Fortunately, fans haven’t seen the last of the members of The Party. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter from August 2020, co-creator Ross Duffer revealed that the writers are already thinking about future seasons of this Netflix original series.
“Season 4 won’t be the end [of Stranger Things]. We know what the end is, and we know when it is,” he said. “[The pandemic] has given us time to look ahead, figure out what is best for the show. Starting to fill that out gave us a better idea of how long we need to tell that story.”
When does season 4 of ‘Stranger Things’ premiere on Netflix?
The first three seasons of this original series are already available on Netflix. The fourth season was scheduled to be released in early 2021. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, however, production was delayed.
Now, some fans expect to see new episodes of this series later during 2021, although there is still no official release date from Netflix.
Because of this delay, there’s no confirmation from Netflix regarding if, or when, season 5 will debut on the subscription service. Thankfully, fans did learn more about season 4 from a teaser trailer, posted to YouTube during 2020.
It’s unclear how long after season 4 this series will run on Netflix
The plot of these unreleased episodes is still a mystery. Although for season 4, the same The Hollywood Reporter article states that they’re departing from Halloween-themed episodes and moving toward “more humor and action.” Of course, this series takes place during the 1980s, so there’s plenty of throwback music and scenery.
“We were so happy with the mall and so proud of our whole art department for bringing it to life,” Ross Duffer said of his favorite moment from season 3. “All these extras, their ’80s costumes, and their ’80s hair. It was like a time machine.”
Several originals on this streaming platform had follow-up seasons created, as well as Netflix-exclusive spinoffs. That includes the Emmy-award winning reality series, Queer Eye, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
Until season 4 of Stranger Things premieres, three seasons of this spooky, ‘80s-themed series are available for binge-watching on Netflix.
