The Secret to Candace Cameron Bure’s 22-Year Marriage: ‘the Glue for Us Is Jesus
Actress Candace Cameron Bure knows what holds her marriage together: Jesus.
Cameron Bure, who stars in Netflix’s Fuller House, has been married to her husband, Valeri Bure, for more than two decades. And they know what works for them. Ahead learn what else besides faith she and her husband rely on to keep their marriage strong.
Cameron Bure and her husband argue but ‘go back to the Bible’
Cameron Bure’s long-lasting marriage doesn’t mean she and her husband don’t have their differences from time to time. While attending the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in March 2018, Cameron Bure, 43, told People she and Valeri turn to the Bible when they argue.
“The reality is the glue for us is Jesus,” she said when asked about what holds her marriage together. “It’s the Bible. You know, when there are arguments or we’re compromising and in ways, it’s always like, ‘Well, let’s just go back to the Bible.’ It’s the foundation for us.”
“So it’s not about winning or losing. But doing this journey together,” she added.
They take vacations as a couple: ‘We want alone time’
Cameron Bure and her husband are parents to three children; a daughter Natasha, 21, and two sons, Lev, 19, and Maksim, 17. While they enjoy family outings — Cameron Bure posts the occasional family photo on her Instagram — the couple makes a point to spend time together just the two of them.
“I just came back from Switzerland two days ago with my husband,” she told the publication at the event. “We had a little five-day vacation, so that was wonderful. We do like to travel and get away from everything here at home in L.A., and from our kids, as much as we love them. We want alone time, you know what I mean? And our kids are older too.”
She met her husband through a ‘Full House’ co-star
Cameron Bure met her husband thanks to Full House. Her co-star, Dave Coulier, invited her to a charity hockey game in 1995. At the time, Valeri had been a pro hockey player who happened to be at the event.
“We were looking at these two cute men on the ice, and I was like ‘I wanna meet that one, the blonde one,’ which was Val,” Cameron Bure told Us Weekly in 2014.
Coulier introduced them and the two hit it off.
“We went on a date the very next day, and in less than a year we were engaged,” she remembered. The couple married on June 22, 1996, and they welcomed their daughter two years later.
In a celebratory Valentine’s Day post on Feb. 14, 2019, Cameron Bure took a walk down memory lane. She shared a picture of her and Valeri on their “second date” — it looks like they went ice skating — next to a more recent picture. The actress who has starred in numerous Hallmark Original movies captioned the post, “25 years my Valentine -P.S. that first pic is our second date.”
Here’s hoping Valeri makes an appearance in an episode of Fuller House in the show’s final season!
