Multi-hyphenate celebrity Selena Gomez is known for her acting, singing, and producing work. But one of her latest projects is a cooking show, Selena + Chef, on HBO Max. Fans are watching to see the icon be herself, and maybe learn a little about her personal life. That was certainly the case in one episode.

Selena Gomez’s dating history

Like many celebrities, Gomez doesn’t go public with every person she dates. However, it is confirmed that she was in what constituted a relationship as a teenager during her Wizards of Waverly Place years with fellow Disney star Nick Jonas. But their puppy love didn’t last long.

Gomez’s longest and most high-profile relationship is undoubtedly her on-again, off-again one with singer Justin Bieber. They were first linked in 2010, and last seen together in 2018 before he began dating his now-wife, Hailey Bieber. Gomez also dated The Weekend for several months in 2017.

Gomez hasn’t dated anyone in a while

Following her last split with Bieber, Gomez hasn’t dated anyone, at least not seriously. “I’ve been single for over two years now,” she told the Wall Street Journal in January 2020. And while she is “OK with that,” it doesn’t mean she wasn’t looking for love. In fact, she wrote a whole song on the subject.

“Boyfriend,” released in April 2020 off the deluxe edition of her album Rare, was born out of a text conversation with her friend and frequent collaborator, Julia Michaels. After Gomez texted her “I really just want a boyfriend,” Michaels “thought we should do a song about it.”

She spoke to a ‘cute boy’ on ‘Selena + Chef’

Now, onto the big news. Released on August 20, 2020, Gomez works with chef Roy Choi in the fourth episode of Selena + Chef. While cooking Korean BBQ Texas breakfast tacos, she stops when she gets a call, saying, “Hey, I’m going to have to call you back.” Returning to Choi, she says, “Sorry, cute boy,” and laughs and smiles.

“Not Selena blushing after getting a call from a ‘cute boy’ my girl got herself a man,” wrote a fan on Twitter. When Choi tries to talk to Gomez about it, she shushes him. “What am I doing? I just got like…” she laughs, looking flustered. “Distracted,” finishes her grandmother, as they all laugh about the situation.

Gomez shared her creation with Taylor Swift

When she finished the dish, Gomez decided to FaceTime someone. But she didn’t go for her new, secret man — instead, she called up pal Taylor Swift to share her work. Swift told Gomez, “If you don’t send me the recipe, we’re gonna have words,” adding, “I want to be served that.” Gomez introduced her to Choi as her “best friend, Taylor.”

“I’m very jealous of your whole setup and the fact that you guys are cooking together,” said Swift, who was deemed “music icon/amateur chef” in the lower third. “I’m so excited, I’m so proud of you,” Swift said to Gomez. “Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for you to become obsessed with cooking?” They signed off, saying, “I love you.”
