Selena Gomez launched the Rare Impact Fund in 2020

The Hulu star created the Rare Impact Fund when she kicked off her Rare Beauty brand with the mission of raising $100 million within the next decade to help provide people with access to mental health services. Gomez hopes by bringing more awareness to all aspects of mental health, the stigma attached to these issues will be reduced.

Gomez became part owner and investor in Serendipity Brands the same year and launched her ice cream flavor, Cookies & Cream Remix, with the iconic Serendipity3 restaurant adding the “Selena Sundae” to their menu in 2021. A portion of the sundae sales went to the Rare Impact Fund.

“It has been such an easy and natural partnership and it’s been wonderful how they are supporting the causes I believe in,” Gomez told Good Morning America in 2021. “They will be donating 10% of the proceeds of my new sundae on the menu to my Rare Impact Fund, which is committed to giving people access to resources they need to support their mental health.”

Serendipity Brands backs the Rare Impact Fund with donations in May

In support of Gomez and her mission, Serendipity Brands is donating $1 for every ice cream pint and products sold to the Rare Impact Fund for the entire month of May.

“Bringing awareness to mental health is something very personal to me,” Gomez shared in a statement. I am so proud that Serendipity Brands has committed to supporting the Rare Impact Fund and helping people gain much needed access to mental health resources.”

Bob Gorman, CEO of Serendipity Brands, expressed the company’s gratitude for being a part of Gomez’s philanthropic endeavor.

“During the month of May, our customers will not just enjoy our ice cream but they’ll also be part of supporting such an important cause,” Gorman said. “We couldn’t be more grateful to Selena for inspiring this partnership and bringing together two of her brands to do good and create meaningful, long-term impact.”

Selena Gomez is a longtime fan of Serendipity

Gomez’s partnership with the decadent dessert brand may have been inspired by her love of the iconic NYC eatery and their menu of sumptuous sweets.

“My memories at Serendipity date back to when I was a kid and I came to New York City for the first time,” Gomez remarked, according to PRNewswire. “I’ve always loved this restaurant.

Elyse Cohen, VP of Social Impact & Inclusion at Rare Beauty and President of the Rare Impact Fund, pointed out how the support from Serendipity Brands will positively impact their mission.

“We’re so proud of the work we’ve accomplished since the launch of the Rare Impact Fund in 2020,” Cohen said. “We have incredible brand partners that have supported our mission and we are thrilled that Serendipity Brands is walking alongside us as we work toward providing people access to the resources they need to support their mental health. The funds raised in May through the sale of Serendipity ice cream pints will directly benefit our grant partners delivering critical mental health services and education.”
