‘Selling Sunset’: Mary Fitzgerald Explains Why Fans Think Brett Oppenheim Left The Oppenheim Group (Exclusive)
Mary Fitzgerald from Netflix’s Selling Sunset revealed that Brett Oppenheim didn’t technically leave The Oppenheim Group but fans got that idea from Christine Quinn. “There’s not really that much of a split, to be honest,” she told Showbiz Cheat Sheet in April. “I think it kind of got taken out of context. I don’t know who said it, I think Christine [Quinn] or somebody said that they split up and they’re going to move over to [Brett Oppenheim].”
Christine Quinn said Brett Oppenheim was leaving, teasing a cast divide
Indeed Quinn was behind the gossip when she dished with Glamour UK that Brett Oppenheim left to start his own brokerage. “Brett has left to start his own brokerage,” she said in the 2020 interview. “The girls are fed up with the favouritism of Mary in the office, we don’t know who will move where. It may be the battle of the brokerages! I think if season four goes ahead, it is going to be the juiciest season ever.”
Fitzgerald clarified that none of this was true and Brett Oppenheim was making more of an internal move to streamline business and commissions. “There was a bunch of stuff and none of that is true,” she said. “I’m not really sure of how that came up. But, there was not really much of a split. [Brett Oppenheim] is just hanging his license differently because he’s a broker as well. And just for the sake of their relationship, he’s just using his own license because they were just having arguments and stuff about like with clients and commissions and stuff like that.”
Jason Oppenheim confirms that Brett Oppenheim is not leaving the company
Brother Jason Oppenheim backs up Fitzgerald’s comments, sharing that Quinn was merely stirring the pot. “I think Christine tried to fan those flames,” Jason Oppenheim told Hello. “He’s not starting his own brokerage and hiring agents and competing, we’re still working together.”
“You’re seeing what happens,” he continued. “Granted, we film for months and you’re seeing just a few hours. You don’t see the part where we’re just on our computers for hours at a time. That would be too boring, But there’s a lot going on I’ll be honest. It makes for a great show, but it can make for a difficult office once in a while.”
‘Selling Sunset’ cast tease an exciting season 4
Fitzgerald said she has a few A-list clients who will likely appear during season 4. She listed French Montana’s home. Plus she worked with Braunwyn Windham-Burke from The Real Housewives of Orange County to find her a new house. “She’s up for doing the show with me,” Fitzgerald said. “And being on it. So as long as the two networks allow it, then yeah, she’ll end up being on the season.”
Chrishell Stause told Showbiz Cheat Sheet she too has some A-list clients. “I also have a couple of clients that I’m super excited about,” she said. “It’s sometimes hard because some of my best clients are the ones that don’t want to be on TV for contract reasons or whatever.” Stause also spilled that Selling Sunset Season 4 should begin streaming on Netflix this fall.
