Chrishell Stause and Justin Hartley’s marriage abruptly ended in 2019
Stause and Hartley tied the knot in 2017. During the first two seasons of Selling Sunset, viewers saw that Stause and Hartley were settling into married life, and they even bought a home outside of Los Angeles.
However, during the third season, the marriage broke up. According to Stause, Hartley “blindsided” her with divorce papers less than an hour after he announced the split to the world.
“I found out because he texted me. Forty-five minutes later, the world knew,” Stause revealed. “I know people are saying we were only married two years, but it’s like, we were together for six years… In a fight, that’s his go-to—like, ‘I’m out, I’m out.’ I hate that kind of impulsive stuff, but I always just thought that’s just an issue, that we work through it.”
On the fourth season of the show, fans saw Stause buying her own home and establishing her post-marriage life.

Stause recently released a book about her life, called Under Construction. In the book, she talks about her late mother Ranae’s battle with lung cancer. Ranae died in July 2020, just months after Stause’s divorce. In one instance, Stause’s sister asked if Hartley had reached out to her after their mother’s death.
Stause wrote, “I told her that he hadn’t, and that I wasn’t really expecting him to, but that it was okay because mom never liked [him] anyway.”
She explained, “She’d never seen any of his shows, and she’d only watched a few episodes of Selling Sunset, so she just lived in a different world and was not won over by someone’s celebrity. At the end of the day, she just cared about how someone treated her daughter.”
“I’m not sure if she did it on purpose or as a dig, but she always called him Jacob,” Stause shared.
Who has Chrishell Stause dated after her marriage?
Stause has since moved on from the divorce and has been dating again.
In late 2020, Stause began dating dancer Keo Motsepe. The two of them competed on season 29 of Dancing with the Stars in different pairs, but they hit it off behind-the-scenes and started a relationship together. However, after about three months together, Stause and Motsepe called it quits. Although sources claimed the couple was amicable during their breakup, Stause later went on Instagram to call Motsepe a liar.
In the summer of 2021, Stause and her boss, Jason Oppenheim, went public with their relationship. Surprisingly, to many fans, they broke up in December of that year. Stause wrote on Instagram, “Jason was and is my best friend, and other than our ideas for family ultimately not being aligned, the amount of respect and love we have for each other will not change going forward.”
Stause is open about the fact that she wants to have kids, and she has even frozen her eggs. It seems the former soap opera actor will continue to search for her Mr. Right.
