‘Selling Sunset’ Star Heather Rae Young Says the Hateful Comments She and Boyfriend Tarek El Moussa Receive Are ‘Shocking’
Heather Rae Young has a message for haters on social media, saying it’s time to “spread love, laughter, and happiness” instead of negativity. The Selling Sunset star opened up in a June 14 Instagram post about the “shocking” comments she and boyfriend Tarek El Moussa sometimes receive, writing that she didn’t understand why people were so hateful.

In her post, Young didn’t elaborate on what kind of nasty comments and DMs she and her El Moussa were receiving. And she seemed more baffled by the hate than hurt by the messages.
“With so much negativity around the world right now why spread hate on people’s pages?” she asked. “It’s shocking some of the comments & Dm’s @therealtarekelmoussa and I get. To think that people actually take the time to type out some of the things we read.”
Supporters urged Young to “ignore the small-minded people” and “keep radiating those positive messages.”
The ‘Selling Sunset’ star has been criticized in the past
Young didn’t share any details about the messages or comments she and her boyfriend had received. But critics haven’t hesitated to speak their minds on some of her past posts. When she shared photos from a weekend trip to Catalina with the Flip or Flop star, one person wondered “why don’t you show some pics of you cooking for Tarek?” Others have noticed that she looks a lot like El Moussa’s ex-wife Christina Anstead, which some think is a little weird. Another called Young “needy.”
Young has also been slammed by some commenters for not speaking out in support of Black Lives Matter. “Use your platform for good one day please,” one person wrote on one of Young’s posts. Others think the couple’s posts about their fun-loving lifestyle are tone-deaf in light of current events, including protests against police brutality and the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
“It really sucks how you continue to post how great your life is,” a critic commented on one of El Moussa’s posts. “Most celebrities are taking a stand and showing how they support others.”
El Moussa and Young aren’t afraid to show off their love for each other
El Moussa and Young have been dating for about a year, and the pair love to share messages about their love for each other on social media and frequently comment on each other’s posts.
“My love, my best friend, I love and adore you more than anything,” Young wrote in a June 9 post.
“I’m so lucky I found her!” El Moussa wrote of his girlfriend. “I was lost for years and never thought I’d find her! I enjoy every waking moment with @heatherraeyoung by my side!”
While some people may like to criticize Young and El Moussa, the couple clearly isn’t letting that get in the way of their happiness.
