‘Sex and the City’: Bridget Moynahan Opens up About How Fan Sentiment for Natasha Naginsky Has Changed Over the Years
Bridget Moynahan spent the earliest days of her acting career portraying one of Sex and the City’s most initially disliked characters. She played Mr. Big’s second wife, Natasha Naginsky, and fans largely despised the pairing. Over two decades removed from the role, Moynahan recently revealed the hate for the character has died down a great deal. She theorized that the show’s fans matured along with it.
Bridget Moynahan discusses the most interesting development with her ‘Sex and the City’ character
Bridget Moynahan is best known for her role in Blue Bloods now, but early in her career, she played Natasha Naginsky in Sex and the City. While Natasha only appeared in a handful of episodes, fans were quick to form a judgment about the character. It wasn’t good. Moynahan, however, says fans have softened to Natasha over the years.
During a chat with Swoon, Moynahan revealed that years after the series aired, fans are finally coming around to the idea that they should have been supporting Natasha, too. The famous actor told the publication that she thinks fans finally see Natasha as a victim in Mr. Big and Carrie’s season 3 affair, which was not always the case. They also sided with Natasha in season 1 of the iconic show’s Max reboot.
In season 1 of And Just Like That…, Carrie Bradshaw’s husband, Mr. Big, dies suddenly. Carrie learns he left $1 million to his ex-wife, Natasha. She sets out to find out why he left her so much money, only to be rebuffed by her husband’s ex. Fans thought Carrie was pushy and demanding, considering how she previously destroyed Natasha’s first marriage. They mostly agree that Natasha was justified in avoiding her despite the circumstances.
Will Moynahan appear in ‘And Just Like That…’ season 3?
While Moynahan was willing to reprise her early role in season 1 of And Just Like That… she didn’t appear for long. Mr. Big’s big ex was only in a single episode of the reboot. Not everyone is satisfied with that single appearance, so will she reprise the role again in season 3? Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it.
Moynahan was not spotted on the set during filming for season 3, nor does the series appear particularly interested in revisiting Mr. Big’s past relationships. While season 1 of the reboot primarily focused on Mr. Big and his death, season 2 moved away from that tragedy. Instead, it focused on Carrie’s new beginning. Season 3 seems likely to do the same. Simply put, there isn’t much room for Natasha to co-exist with Carrie and her pals now that John James Preston is dead.
Season 3 of And Just Like That… does not have an official release date yet. Fans can expect to see it early in 2025, though. Filming for season 3 wrapped in New York City last month.
