‘Sex and the City’: Kim Cattrall Keeps in Touch With At Least 1 Team Member From the Show
Kim Cattrall may have had a falling out with her Sex and the City co-stars, but it looks like she still has at least one friend from the show. Cattrall starred on the show and in both movies as Samantha Jones, a sexually liberated PR professional who always gets what she wants and on her own terms. She has since retired from the role, but Cattrall seems to have made a forever friend in one team member.
Kim Cattrall and Patricia Field were spotted out together
In mid-May, Page Six obtained and published a photo of Cattrall enjoying a meal with Field, who served as the costume designer on the show and its movies. Dressed in a sparkly black sweater with her hair hanging loosely at her shoulders, Cattrall beamed at the camera as Field sat next to her. “My dinner with @Pat_Field A true friend and confidant,” Cattrall tweeted alongside a re-post of the photo.
The outing came just before Field revealed that she wouldn’t be returning to the Sex and the City revival, And Just Like That…, citing a time conflict.
“I wasn’t able to be in New York doing that and be in Paris doing Emily in Paris,” she explained to Women’s Wear Daily. “But I told them to call my very dear friend Molly Rogers, who also worked in my store back in the day. She did Sex and the City with me from start to finish. She knew it well so she’s doing it. My dance card was full.”
Field also spoke about the “very positive creative relationship” she and Cattrall have maintained over the years, noting she had recently helped the actor style her upcoming wedding to boyfriend Russell Thomas. “She’s getting married at City Hall for a second time so I sent her to Dior. They make this New Look jacket that is a laser type jacket that comes in at the waist. It’s cut very well. She went there and got it,” she added.
Kim Cattrall also isn’t returning to the ‘Sex and the City’ revival
Cattrall made it clear over the years that she would never return to her role as Samantha Jones. Her decision came amid a longstanding feud with Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw), but Cattrall has clarified that she was never really close with any of her co-stars, which also include Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte York).
“We’ve never been friends,” she explained in a 2017 appearance on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, per The Daily Mail. “We‘ve been colleagues and in some ways, it’s a very healthy place to be because then you have a clear line between your professional life and relationship and your personal.”
“They all have children and I am 10 years older, and since, specifically, the series ended, I have been spending most of my time outside of New York, so, I don’t see them,” Cattrall, 64, continued. “The common ground that we had was the series, and the series is over.”
In place of Cattrall, the revival will reportedly bring on six new characters, including three women of color, according to TVLine. There’s no set release date for And Just Like That… as of writing, but it begins filming in the spring of 2021.
