‘Sex/Life’ Season 2? What We Know About the Possibility of Another Season

'Sex/Life' is one of the world's latest TV obsessions. Starring Sarah Shahi, the show follows a married mother of two who begins to fantasize about her bad boy ex-boyfriend. It left off with a major cliffhanger, leaving fans eager to see what happens next. But is 'Sex/Life' Season 2 happening? Find out.

Sex/Life isn’t just one of the most popular shows on Netflix, but it’s also one of the hottest.

Inspired by author B.B. Easton’s book 44 Chapters About 4 Men, the series follows a bored, married mother of two who begins to long for her ex-boyfriend. It premiered on Netflix in June, winning over viewers with its drama, suspense, and of course, love scenes. Anyone who watched it is probably desperate for new episodes. But will there be a Sex/Life Season 2? Let’s discuss.

What happened at the end of ‘Sex/Life?’

Billie spent the majority of the episodes conflicted between her feelings for Cooper and Brad. By the time the finale rolled around, it seemed like she had decided to continue the life she’d created with Cooper. But in a surprising twist, Billie snuck off one night to be with Brad, not knowing that her husband was tracking her movement on his cell phone.

Has ‘Sex/Life’ been renewed?

Nearly two months later, Netflix has not publicly commented on whether there will be another season of Sex/Life. However, the website What’s On Netflix claims the show has indeed “quietly been renewed behind the scenes and is currently set to return for a second season at Netflix.”

Showbiz Cheat Sheet cannot confirm the report, but it wouldn’t be surprising if it did get renewed given all of its success. Though it hasn’t exactly been a hit with critics (Sex/Life has a measly 23% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), fans love it so much that it spent weeks atop Netflix’s top 10 list (via Newsweek). That kind of performance usually leads to a renewal, but of course, anything can happen.

What showrunner Stacy Rukeyserv hopes for ‘Sex/Life’ Season 2

If Netflix happens to approve the second season of Sex/Life, showrunner Stacy Rukeyserv would like for it to pick up right after the moment Billie showed up at Brad’s apartment.

“Everybody wants to know what happens after that final moment [and] that’s definitely what we’ll have to address,” she told Newsweek. But she also wants to dig deeper into the lives of other characters such as Cooper and Sasha.

“There’s so much more to explore not just about Billie and the choice that she’s making, but about all of our characters,” Rukeyserv continued. “So much of Season 1 was about Billie and her past and what’s made her the way that she is. I think it’s really interesting to learn more about Cooper and Sasha and what their origin story is and how did they come to be the people that they are.”

“But, ultimately, this is a story about a woman who is going through a version of a midlife crisis—and where is that going to take her and is this the worst decision of her life or the best decision of her life? It’s certainly going to be very complicated,” she added.

Fingers crossed that Sex/Life Season 2 happens. In the meantime, you can find the first season now on Netflix.
