‘Shameless’: Cameron Monaghan Once Came to Work ‘Dejected’ About This Weird Food He Ate For Dinner
Shameless star Cameron Monaghan and his co-star Noel Fisher make up the fan-favorite couple, Ian and Mickey. As hysterical as their relationship is on-screen, it’s almost as funny off-screen.
The two men are great friends and often appear in interviews together since their on-screen characters tied the knot in season 10. Monaghan and Fisher also love to tell stories about each other. Fisher described the “dejected” face his co-star was making about his dinner in a recent interview.
‘Shameless’ star Cameron Monaghan praised Noel Fisher
In an interview with Black Chalk Magazine, Cameron Monaghan explained what it was like playing a different sexuality on Shameless. He attributed the ease of the relationship between Ian and Mickey to his co-star, Fisher.
“I don’t find it different than playing any other character, you know,” he told the outlet. “It is not playing a different sexuality because that’s such a broad spectrum for me. It is about playing a relationship between specific characters and trying to embrace what is happening within each scene on a scene-by-scene basis.”
He also believes that Ian and Mickey’s relationship wouldn’t’ be portrayed as well without Fisher.
“One of the huge factors was Ian and Mickey’s relationship and working with Noel Fisher, who is extremely talented,” Monaghan added. “We had a good rapport on camera and a chemistry. It is always trying to find what is authentic and genuine within a scene.”
Fisher said that Monaghan is most likely to start a prison riot over food
In an interview with Lilly Singh, the actors talked about how their characters faced prison together. The host played a little game to see which one of the actors would survive better in prison, in real life. When she asked which star would be most likely to start a prison riot over food, they both said it would be Monaghan.
“I am a foodie, yeah,” Monaghan admitted. “I love food, yeah.”
Then the host asked his favorite food, and his answer was a bit strange.
“It’s peanut butter,” he said. “Put it on bananas, put it in a dessert. I don’t really care.”

His Shameless co-star went into more detail about Monaghan’s peanut butter obsession.
“I remember we were hanging out on set, and you had this really dejected look on your face,” Fisher explained. “I asked you what was going on, and you were like, ‘Last night I ate a whole jar of peanut butter for dinner.’
Monaghan confirmed that the story was true, and everyone laughed. Sometimes he regrets eating so much peanut butter, but he loves it so much that he can’t stop.
