‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’: Zachary Levi Takes Fans Behind the Scenes With Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu: ‘It’s Going to be Out of This World’
DC FanDome unveiled new information on the sequel to the surprise hit Shazam! Zachary Levi and Asher Angel reprise their roles as Billy Batson. This time, though, problems arise from Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu as Kalypso and Hespera. For a sneak peek, Levi took fans behind the scenes of Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
The surprise DC Universe hit ‘Shazam!’
The DCEU had some troubles after Batman V Superman proved divisive. It seemed like an odd time to create a film about Captain Marvel Shazam.
However, it received a surprisingly warm reception.
Warner Bros. greenlit a Shazam 2, and Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam and Billy Batson’s universe suddenly got bigger.
During the DC FanDome event, Angel and Levi introduced Shazam! Fury of the Gods with some exclusive behind-the-scenes footage.

Something stuck out among the behind-the-scenes look at Shazam! Fury of the Gods. The Shazam! sequel looked to go much, much bigger than its predecessor.
“When I talk about upgrades, we got a huge upgrade in the suit,” Levi said. “Bigger action sequences, bigger set pieces.”
Instead of dealing with one villain, Shazam and his family now face two. Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu as Kalypso and Hespera come to Earth as two villainous goddesses.
“Shocker, Helen Mirren, and Lucy Liu look pretty awesome in Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” a Tweet from The Wrap said.
The film stuffs itself with other mythological creatures like a chimera, minotaurs, and even a cyclops.
“We all established something special in the first movie,” Levi said. “And in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, we expand on that.”

While Dwayne Johnson set up Black Adam in ancient Egypt, Billy Batson has his own problems.
“Shazam! Fury of the Gods is going to be out of this world,” Levi said. “In fact, the fate of Philadelphia and probably, actually, the entire world, is in my hands, but this time, the family and I are up against some seriously scary villains: Hellen Mirren and Lucy Liu.”
Mirren and Liu acted their parts with a smirk as Levi brought fans behind the scenes of Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
Everyone loves to play a villain.
The whole cast and crew excitedly await to show more of the film. Shazam 2 features more spectacle. The filmmakers explored locations unseen in the first movie.
The entire production went big.
Mirren herself summed it up as best as anyone could. “We have it all,” the Catherine the Great actor said.
A 2023 release date slammed on-screen to finish off Levi’s behind-the-scenes tour of Shazam! Fury of the Gods. However, it just left fans wanting more.
